"Movie" in 2525
In the year 2525 -- if man is still alive-- will people still be using the slang word "movie"?
What will it be replaced with? Whatever it is, I bet it'll be as weird as imagining Taco Bell's restaurant monopoly in Demolition Man.

Well let's make a list of all the words used to describe movies that have been in use up to this point. It might help us see where things might be going.
Film
Movie
Flick
Picture
Show
Can you think of any more?

Re:"Movie" in 2525
and...
Video
I think that one's plausible because I feel more comfortable saying "online video" than "online movie," but neither seems to fit, say, Brad Neely's stuff on Superdeluxe.
I haven't been paying attention to whether people are saying "digital video" or "digital film."

Got these out of my Roget's thesaurus:
the flickers
photoplay
The same thesaurus says the most-used variant of the verb "dance" is...are you ready? trip the light fantastic

Due to the de-evolution of man, I think it will be a combination of grunts and clicks, something like...
click, cli-clik, ugh.

I feel like at some point we'll start seeing more 3-D movies, without the need for those funky glasses, where maybe the action is all around us, enveloping us. So maybe they'll refer to our movies now as 2-Ds, Twovies, or Flats. I know, lame names, but you get the gist. :)

Ditto. It seems like we have been naming these things based on their format, how they are shown, or even dominant characteristics. So yeah, envisioning what the experience will be like would be the closest we might come to naming it. I like Twovies:) Threevies:) Surroundies or maybe lookies.

but we'll be far too lazy to spell those out, and they'll quickly become 2Vs and 3Vs. Maybe by then we won't actually have to sit through the movie and it will instantly download itself into our brain, where a supercomputer chip will render a decision about the quality of the film.

I like where you guys are taking this. To boil it down futher, I think people might call them vees.
ADAM: Did you guys go to the vee?
KEVIN: Heck no, we got the ivee. (internet video, pronounced "ivy").
