Dirty Harry

While Clint Eastwood's "Inspector Harry Callahan" could be classified as a "serial killer" himself (He HAS racked up quite an impressive body count over the course of his films), it is a little known fact that the original  Dirty Harry  was actually based on the Zodiac Killer case.   So now, having established relevence to this group, I just wanted to say that I just heard the news that Eastwood is making a new "Dirty Harry" movie and that the soon-to-be 78 year old (!) actor/director is intending to kill off the beloved character.   I think this is a brilliant move by Eastwood that will neatly put an end to the franchise and forever secure his place in cinematic history.   Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Also, as I recently mentioned elsewhere, I heard the rumor that Sly Stallone is intending to step into the shoes of the late great Charles Bronson and take over the  Death Wish  franchise.   Now HERE was a TRUE "serial Killer" who also happened to be a beloved "hero"!   Any thoughts on this?   I would love to hear what you guys think about both of these subjects.

I am sorry but there is only one Death Wish and that is with the late Charles Bronson! My other dad was a huge Clint eastwood ,Sylvester Stallone, and Charles Bronson fan. I grew up on these movies! Actually i was over at my family's house last month and AMC was playing all the Death Wish's, and my grandfather was sitting there watching them religously!

I think Stallone should get out of the game and retire while he is ahead. To many gore heads Rambo (2008) was a wet dream! With that said, I think Death Wish personally will be his undoing.

OK. I just read in the Rocky Mountain News the other day that Eastwood denied any rumors of a new "Dirty Harry" movie when asked about this at Cannes. Mr. Eastwood reportedly stated that "At my age, Harry Callahan would not still be on the police force. Let's let it go at that."
