Recasting smaller productions
Wow people really seem to get off on this group. I'm amazed. Where did everyone come from?
Well it's almost too much mental energy for me to think up my full casts for all of the proposals you've made so far, much less spend the time looking over ever single submission.
So I am proposing movies with smaller casts so it's easier. First of all what about recasting Secret Honor. There's only one actor in the whole thing, Phillip Baker Hall. Then I tried to think of other movies that only had one actor, and all I could think of was all of Spalding Gray's movies. But how could you possibly have someone else do Spalding Gray's material? It's basically a personal true story, so it wouldn't make sense for it to ever be remade.
Then I surprised and saddened to realize I couldn't think of a single other production with only one actor. I did a search and actually found a movie called An Evening of Edgar Allen Poe starring (surpise) Vincent Price alone. The movie does not appear to be listed in Spout. And then I also found a production of Moby Dick starring just one actor named Jack Aranson. I can't find this one in Spout either. Has anyone seen either of these?
Whether or not you have seen any of these. Who is an actor that you would love to see do a one man show?
Ok, I was thinking about naming some movies with just two people in the cast, but it's time for me to leave work, so I'll do that later or leave it to someone else to propose.

I thought of some, but most only count for about 90% of the film. There is Pi, which is mostly the main character throughout the film. Anatomy of Hell, a French film featuring only two actors fornicating for most of the film. The Dreamers, which is about 3 actors hauled up in an apartment doing all sorts of sordid things. The 24th Day which has two guys, one tied up, locked in an apartment. And I was thinking The Seventh Seal, but that is only two characters for about half of the film.
As for a one man show, I would definitely love to see Julianne Moore, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Molly Shannon, Peter O'Toole, and Maggie Smith. The only one man show I can actually recall is Paul Reubens doing Pee-Wee Herman at the Groundlings Theater (I think it was there) which is probably one of the funniest performances ever. I'd love to see him do something new.

Huh, I've never heard of Anatomy of Hell. The description doesn't sound like an endorsement, but I wonder what did you think of it?
I would hardly say the The Seventh Seal is only two character for about half the film. Unless you are saying it's constantly switching between two different sets of characters. There's a pretty huge cast and most shots have several people in them including many huge crowd scenes.
I would have actually asked about recasting the amazing Sleuth, but it looks like that's already happened.
I also almost wanted to say that I just remembered that already WAS a Molly Shannon one woman show, but then I realized I got her mixed up with Julia Sweeney who did God Said, 'Ha!'

Hmmm, let's see. I did like it but remained significantly repulsed throughout the entire film. It was extremely different from anything I had seen before and certain scenes still resonate quite a bit (despite my trying to forget them). It did seem to rely a lot on its shock-value quite a bit which made particular voice-overs and dialogue rather trite, but nonetheless it was something new and different.

Rizzo this is one of the funniest posts I've ever seen. I love how you were on Spout while at work, and stopped writing because you stopped getting paid!

If you guys want to pay me every time I use the site, I'd certainly be open to that!

Re:Recasting smaller productions
Wasn't quite sure where to put this request, but I was just listening to the soundtrack and I think you should recast "The Blues Brothers". Of course it could get ridiculous recasting everyone, but taking the top performers wouldn't be too bad.
It would be really interesting to see what musical performers of today would fit into the roles of those original idols. I can just picture Amy Winehouse working the diner...

Re:Recasting smaller productions
You know what else might be fun is recasting a movie within the actors in the movie. Like seeing if you switch around all of the actors into different roles.
Actually it would be boring to just speculate. I think it would be interesting if you could actually see the results though.
That's why I actually find this group kind of boring. But if someone has the money to fund a project to actually film a recast production, I'd take more interest. Actually I'd be more interested in just hiring a new director and letting them cast whoever they want.

Then you can switch around the cast of smaller productions like the ones mentioned above. Tape, would be another good example.
