Year in Review: What Was Your Favorite Fantasy of 2007?
Helloooo out there. Apologies all, for our beloved fantasy group seems to have been quasi-dormant, as has much of the group activity on Spout lately (aside from a few very busy groups, to which I don't belong). I wonder why that is. Welcome to all of our newest members. I hope you like it here. Though I haven't been able to see as much fantasy this year, at least not yet, I am trying to create a tradition by looking back and looking forward in a discussion thread. We did this for 2006, so why not for 2007, before we embark on 2008? Happy New Year! The list for what to look forward to in 2007 will disappear forever, but before it does, fantasy-lovers, consider: what was your favorite fantasy film from 2007 and why? We had another fine crop of fantasy to choose from. Though I saw so few, I give Pirates 3 my highest rating this year. I know lots of people didn't like it, but I actually kind of loved it, much more than the second one, but I appreciate the entire trilogy as a whole. There was lots of story in this one, but it was easy enough to follow if you tried, and the special effects were awesome. It was epic in my eyes; I just bought it on DVD and loved it more on repeat viewing. Sometimes, I think people are too hard on the films meant purely for entertainment. Sure, there might be merchandising and ubiquitous advertising involved, but it was a fun ride. Enough about me, what do you think? What was your favorite fantasy of 2007 and why?
