The Last Mimzy

I just watched a trailer for this movie coming out in March, called the Last Mimzy.  It looks like it could be very good, about the two child geniuses/ psychics that stumble onto something like dimensional travel or a similar talent.  They are noticed by people that have the same talents, possibly from other realms.  Strangely enough the movie looks very deeply rooted in reality, and it felt a lot more genuine than it sounds when I watched the trailer.  I could not find any information on here about it yet, so I did not add it to any lists.

Go ahead to the Apple website and checkout the trailer on quicktime.  It looks like it could end up being a fascinating movie.

Hm...my interest is certainly piqued.  I have never heard of this movie until just now, though I read a bit about it on imdb after I read your post.  I'll have to watch the trailer on a computer where I have QuickTime, but has anyone else heard about this movie?  What info can you give us?  In the meantime, I'll root around for something about it.  Incidentally, Indie, were you just thumbing around the Apple site watching trailers, or did you see this attached to another movie in the theater?  Just curious...

I was looking at the newest trailers on the Apple site.  I check it out occasionally just to see what's up...

Re: The Last Mimzy

i just saw this one and enjoyed seeing something new and smart that isn't a remake.  I was alone in the theater but only because I went to the very last showing (near 10pm) and I think most people view it as a children's movie.  For me it was a nice reminder of how we saw life as children - before our imaginations grew up, before we began to see the limitations of things rather than the wonder, before our innocence was tainted by the harshness of modern society.  I liked that both parents were present in this one and each one was as involved in their children's lives as the other.  Dad works alot and she is a stay-at-home mom, old-fashioned values and this aided in a comfortable slide backwards to childhood for me.  The mimzy is fantastic - fantasy, yes - but it's the point the story makes that is most important.  Special effects were all very well done, and the way the story unfolds is a seamless journey back to our spiritual connections of childhood to the world around us.

saw this movie last wk. with my family and friends and we all liked it; Did not expect it  but Last mimzy definitely has the most creative and original visual effects i have seen in film. Also liked the cinematography (with the bugs and small animals)and loved the music/song by roger waters(from pink floyd) "hello, i love you"

Hmm...I've heard mixed reviews.  A friend of mine said it was kind of "eh" but wasn't specific.  Any other recommenders?
