Borat's Hidden Meaning
Borat's hidden meaning is many layers deep. Some of the subtle observations on life are so easy to spot on the surface they don't really count as even hidden. For example one very surface level message was "things are not always what they appear....".... i.e. don't build your life around a baywatch lifeguard if you haven't even met her, let alone if she prefers to date guys with more tattoos then you ...... However that "hidden meaning" is so obvious and in one's face that it doesn't really count as hidden for purposes of this high bar list. For the hidden meaning of Borat we have to slice several layers deep through the various "teaser meanings" to get down to the hard core meaning.... "Whatever you do in life, do it with passion and sincereity" whether it is traveling the country to seek out the love of your life, blind allegiance versus thoughtful patriotism, or having dinner with a bunch of folks versus really connecting with them."... I even think there was some hidden meaning in the frat boy in the trailer episode..... what was the true hidden observation being made by the presenation of the jerky comments, racist and sexist remarks, etc. in their dialouge? It is out there.....
