A new entry appeared spontaneously in my People list. I see how to add to the list, but how do I remove entries from the list? thx.

yep. to remove one item (person) from the Contact view in the People tab on the dashboard. thx.

This may be a silly question but I am not familer with this site on everything yet. On the profile site, It asks for a web e-mail address. What is this mean?

Hi Joe,To remove aa person from your contacts list, go to the list of contacts in your dashboard. Locate the person you want to remove and check the box in the upper right corner of that persons section. Another box will pop up giving you the option of removing the contact. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions!
