whats the best (current release 2005-2007) horror/suspense/ thriller you have seen lately ????
recently i have spoken to people that work at video stores and talked to some people that like to rent current movies of this genre;i have also spoken to friends and family and it seems to me (from my point of view),that this is a hard genre to please people i know ;Movies that i have rented the past 4 mths or at least for the year 2007 in this genre have not been very good;Either i ,my family or friends did not find a movie that i or all of us liked. The only ones that i or the consensus(my family and friends) liked are: masters of horror: Pick Me Up (2006 season 1)and Family (2006 season 2) Can anyone else offer their insight or and have movie they would like to recommend? (foreign-older foreign flicks count cause it takes a couple yrs. for a lot of foreign to be easily available in u.s. and indie flicks count also)

"28 Days Later"(2002) or 28 wks. later (2007), which one is better(if you have seen it or for anyone that has seen both) ?how do they compare? how are the stories similar and or different? altough i was looking for flicks that are more current, "Suspiria",strikes my curiosity; i am a fan dario argentos daughter asia argentos BUT i have never seen a d.argento flick;Suspiria seems to be highly recommended in this site and praised at other online reviews;Some even giving it 5 stars(filmcritic.com),which is rare.So i am going to check out some recent and a classic d.argento films this wk.(put it #1 & #2 on my queue)through recommendations of other spouters.Masters of horror: jenifer (2005) and Suspiria (1977) Can anyone else recommend a dario argento that is a MUST SEE for the 1st time viewer of d.argento flicks????

I've only seen one, Deep Red. I'd recommend it though. However Suspria sounds like it may be the more mature work.

I have to say The Descent has been one of the best "newer" films I have seen lately. Although, I have been watching a lot of Older films from the 70s and 80s on my Netflix Queue. Dead Silence wasn't too bad, it was a little on the cheesey side but had some very good goosebump moments that I liked. The Messengers wasn't too bad, I wouldn't RAVE about it but it was pretty okay (I'd make a great saleman wouldn't I...hee hee), hmmmm, what else have I seen....Night of the Living Dorks - it was funny and a little scary at the same time as well as Dead and Breakfast (but it looks like this one was released in 2004..I think just about everything I have seen, I keep reporting to everyone, so no surprises lately.

Dead silence had an interesting twist on the ending which was pretty cool;those puppets(although not original)were a bit spooky;I wonder why on earth would someone carry around that puppet when they knew or had an inner or sixth sense feeling that the puppet was not all uppity right? Even if nobody believed me about that puppet,i would not carry that thing around if i felt something fishy about it;Carrying that puppet around will just head you into trouble.BUT i guess, this is the movies and that is how it works in scary films: The filming /cinematography of this film was a bit gritty and too out of date for me :Plus that shaver of d.whalberg and a couple of cheesy lines was a wee bit too B rated for me. |

I'll add my vote for The Descent. It could have never even involved the cave dwellers and it still would have been a horror great. The claustrophobia and tension that Neil Marshall creates within the cave is the real draw of the movie for me. The creatures and the ensuing chase are icing on the cake.

Oh man, I agree with you there. I was reading a few things here and there about people who love to explore caves and they go through these teeny little tunnels that JUST barely fit their bodies and gear. It is friggin crazy. Yes, I think I was almost hyperventilating with them just crawling through the cave in those tight little spaces. Sorry, my idea of a cave is this gorgeous cave (I think it's in Branson, Missouri) called Bridal cave, it's close to Bagnal Damn, anyway, you can practically drive through it...I think there are a few like that in Colorado too. Take a jeep or a tourist tram and go through it that way, none of that squeezing in and through little spaces, especially with my big butt, NO THANKS!!!

just saw disturbia last night and i was pleasantly suprised that it turned out to be a pretty good suspense movie;the movie also kept moving and and it was a bit funny in certain parts;my nephews seems to have liked it too ,so i would give this movie a thumbs up. The movie is like modern teen version of rear window(both the old original classic and the remake version by c.reeve)Has anyone else seen this disturbia and what do you think of this flick?
