george clooney

Person:  George Clooney, Greatest Work: Ocean's "many", The Perfect Storm, Syriana, Intolerable Cruelty, Batman and Robin, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Gossip:  Even though his 18 year old pot belly pig has died, even though he may have recently had liposuction, even though he hates paparazzi with a passion, even though he says he will never again marry and never have kids to carry on his voted "sexiest looks".............George always seems to come out on top (even if it is in his own, by some people's opinion, arrogant mind ).

He has, especially in recent years, really placed forth humanitarian efforts.  Specifically, here is the lastest from the insider:

GEORGE CLOONEY and his 'Ocean's Thirteen' co-stars have raised $9.3 million for relief efforts in the war-torn Darfur region of Sudan. The organization that Clooney co-founded, Not On Our Watch, has donated $5.5 million to relief organizations in the past three weeks alone.

Clooney says that he and actors BRAD PITT, MATT DAMON and DON CHEADLE and producer JERRY WEINTRAUB raised much of the money at a benefit dinner held during the Cannes Film Festival.

The latest donation Not On Our Watch made was $1 million to the United Nations World Food program to go towards relief efforts in Darfur. The organization has also donated $2.75 million to the International Rescue Committee and $1 million to Save the Children.

Clooney says he wants to hold more benefit dinners like the one in Cannes at other films festivals around the world.

Children, no matter what country they are from, what color they are, and what language they speak deserve basic needs, health and the best chance at life.  For that, I strongly applaud George!  In the USA, some people may be more fortunate than others, but we really are as a whole, sheltered from the way some of the world is.  My opinion of these celebrities taking on projects like this, well no matter what their motive (and some I question), if it helps a young being, than kudos!  I do also know we also have a severe need for such people to help children in our own country as well.  The rest of the craziness in his life I blank out when watching his movies.

On the movie side of things, I thought George was one of the sexiest Bat crusaders ever.  He is articulate but  convincing in most of his roles.   He and Julia Roberts "mesh" well togther in Oceans.  I think they could have made a cute couple off screen.  Spoken like a true shallow female, huh?

Under discussion:

Batman & Robin  (1997)

Ocean's Thirteen  (2007)

Man crush.

"Good Night, and Good Luck" was his project.  Politically quite active.

(You don't have a place for Damon and Affeck, but my daughter-in-law's father, who is a doctor on Maui, is... I think he's over on Oahu this week. I didn't ask which island he was on.  Anyway, Damon and Affleck were trying to surf and Affleck twisted something and he and Damon turned up at the clinic and Jeff had a chat with both of them. Said they were ultra-charming. He's from Boston and they all talked about Southie. He didn't get their autographs or anything because he thought that asking would be totally lame. He has a wonderful new  house up the hill north of Wailuku. They aren't scheduled over there I think but if their plans change, they may have dinner with him.)

I'll have to expand to include those two when I get some time.  Keep us posted on any future encounters.

Clooney's political "activeness" appears to be overshadowed by Paris, Lindsay, even Rosie etc lately

Yes, I had read those posts prior to my discussion.  I was hoping to draw one or more of the player haters in , but I guess they passed on it.
