Person: Eddie Murphy, Greatest Work:  Shrek 1-3, Dreamgirls, Dr. Dollitle, Nutty Professor 1-2, Mulan and some oldies Beverly Hills Cop, Golden Child and Trading Places, Gossip: It has been reported that the paternity test has taken place.  Mommy "Scary Spice", Melanie Brown has always maintained there is no doubt who the father of her baby girl is.  We will see, will Eddie have a sixth child, adding to the five with his former wife?  I have always thought Eddie is energetic, talented and has always made me laugh.  But, it seems since his earlier years, he has had a few more critics.  Specifically, following the dreamgirl nomination-but no win walkout, it seems he appears withdrawn and sort of crabby to the press.  Maybe it is his personal problems.  Maybe people like him better funny and he resents this, or maybe his notorious characteristic laughs are simply getting cut from his interviews.  What is your favorie Murphy movie?  For all you Shrek fans, 2010 Shrek 4 has been announced.  2009 Beverly Hills Cop IV supposedly is also in the works.

i liked shrek ,shrek 2 , mulan(personal faves) and the oldies beverly hills cop1 and 2 and trading places like you. My other faves are:

Coming to America (1988)very funny classic with asenio hall(whatever happened to him?)james earl jones in queens ,n.y.(i have actually been there where they filmed that movie,i have seen that mcdugalls{really mcdonalds);i remember the scene when when e.murphy(prince akeem) hands out a stack of money to two homeles old guys that became poor because of the switch of stock shares from the movie Trading Places??; Showtime (2002) great annoying funny cop duo with robert deniro,; Holy Man (1998) ,and Bowfinger(1999)  under rated but so-sooo funny especially when e.murphy had to cross that super busy freeway(one my guilty-pleasure funny faves movie)

He did win a  Screen Actors Guild Awards and a Golden Globe award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role
for: Dreamgirls (2006) which is pretty great ;i believe it is his first win for both the SAG awards and Golden Globe award

as for the 2009 beverly hills cop , 15 years later??? i wonder how that would turn out,Will they have the same original cast??guess will find out in the future because nothing much has been written up about this,i think

you know,he has an older brother (mostly stand-up comic/comedian and a few bits of acting parts, nothing major though) Charles Q. Murphy;just saw him in a movie a few mths.ago,King's Ransom (2005),not bad;never knew he had an acting brother til i saw that movie;when i saw kings ransom, i thought it was eddie murphy (kinda looks like him but older looking)til i took a second look and read the credits/cast at the end of the movie

Re: eddie murphy

Those are all my favorite movies with him, too.  I really liked him in the Golden Child (for some reason this is one of my favorite movies with him, I don't know why).  I didn't realize he was a voice in Mulan...I will have to watch that one again.   I remember watching his standup routine and thinking it was so risque and trying to keep it turned down low so my mom wouldn't hear the language, I can't remember if they had it on HBO or Cinemax.  Anyway, I think I was about a Junior and Senior in High School and he wore that Michael Jackson red and black leather suit.   He was funny and i still pretty funny.  I thought the Haunted Mansion was cute too but I really didn't get into Daddy Daycare or the Dr. Doolittle movies.  I think my number ONE favorite movie that he has been in, his Trading Places.  That was a very cute movie, of course the whole cast made it really great.

Poor Eddie, I think he treats the press so bad because of the transvestite incident a few years ago when he was caught with a male drag queen hooker.  He said he was just helping the girl/guy out by giving him a "ride" we may never know...Some people just like to try all different kinds of things...

I totally forgot about the drag queen incident.  I got my laugh for the morning, thanks June!

I forgot to mention I love his talent of portraying multiple characters in the same movie.  For example, I think he did a few in Trading Places and Nutty Professor.  I don't think I have ever read that he is difficult on the set.  In fact, I think he is/was always relaxing people and making them laugh.

Eddie's older brother Charles Q was a regular on the Dave Chappelle Show. When Chappelle went away and didn't come back, Murphy was one of the cast who carried on without him for the rest of the season.

I thought Norbit was so-so (watched it the other night), but holy cow, can Eddie Murphy do characters. I watched the whole movie without remembering or realizing that he was playing the Asian father, in addition to Norbit and Rasputia.

Thandie Newton's eating disorder isn't looking so good in this flick.

It doesn't seem the majority of  spout liked Norbit too much either.

Norbit is just part of the man's ouevre now. Any fan will see it and enjoy it and move on. Sort of like, I was watching Music and Lyrics last night and it didn't seem to work very well as a romance for me, but I like to just sit and watch  Hugh Grant and  Drew do their thing, so it was ok.

And Rasputia will make a variety of top 5 lists if I have anything to say about it.

I haven't been paying attention. Did the Spice baby turn out to be Eddie's or not?

[later] oops, nevermind. the dna tests are back and the baby is his...

What kind of alerts do you have set up?  Just kidding.......You must have got  Daddy Murphy's DNA results hot off the press.  Boy, I have been reading alot of angry (mostly female) discussions about this.  Only a few people sticking up for Eddie's statements prior.  Although, I think all he said was that he wasn't sure right?  I seems he dumped her quickly and untactfully.  Another sad situation where a child is in the middle.

Re: eddie murphy

I had been wondering that myself.  I'm glad she proved the baby was his, they really would have made a nice looking couple.   I used to live in Hackensack New Jersey, one of my best friends lived in Englewood, NJ across the street (which was an extremely wide street) from Eddie Murphy's house - Lou Rawls lived up the street too.  We used to just walk by it to see if we could ever see anyone.  He had a guard and a very high wall all around the house.  My friend said it was a replica of Graceland but BIGGER.  Very interesting, anyway, this was back in 1987 or so.

But tell me, what is it about Eddie Murphy and his fascination with FAT people?  Sheeeez.  It's like he's obsessed.  The fat jokes are getting old (only because I am fat but it's driving me crazy).  Anyway, he is an EXCELLENT character actor.  Very good at what he does, that's for sure.
