Zombie Critters
Okay so I know that this is probably a stupid thread but I'm going to do it anyway! I don't know about you, but I think Zombified Animals are way scary...maybe even more so than Zombified Humans. I know that there are zombie dogs in Resident Evil. And there's also a zombie dog in Night of the Creeps, though I'm not sure if this qualifies as a zombie movie or not. Oh oh! And, though I didn't much care for the movie, Resident Evil: Extinction had some zombie birds. Wouldn't that suck. Not only is Petey obnoxious and tweets nonstop but he's also dead and will bite your ankles off if he gets out of his cage...sucky. That kind of brings about a whole 'nother set of problems when thinking about the movie The Birds. Eep!

Re:Zombie Critters
You forgot to mention the zombie-cat from Pet Sematary . At the time this movie came out, my Mom had a big, fat, grey cat named 'Smokey' who was absolutely identical to the one in the movie... Pretty creepy... But you MUST check out the 'zombie-horses' (!) in Amando DeOssorio's Return of the Evil Dead aka Return of the Blind Dead aka El Ataque De Los Muertos Sin Ojos ... Those things are pretty freaking cool!

Re:Zombie Critters
I could not agree more about zombified animals!!! Yikes. The ones in Resident Evil were great! There was also the cat in Re-Animator and ( were those zombies in I am Legend? I think they are mutatants myself, just like 28 Days Later are not Zombies, but the infected ) the dogs in I am Legend were really quite terrifying, to see them, grizzled and hairless, held back snapping, snarling, starting and stopping, and drooling by the rapidly shrinking band of late afternoon sun...Holy cow. Crawl Doc, crawl toward your car. And why are Cats used so often as objects of terror? What is the deep fear/mythology of them?

That's a good question, Mr. P. And I think I have the answer...cats are naturally evil creatures. Yes, I love them, but they can be some mean SOBs. "Hmmm...let's see...she just finished this exhaustive paper on Larry Zonka...it's due tomorrow...she'll fail if she doesn't turn it in...I know! I'll puke on it! Rock on!" See, that's their mindset. If they can't puke on it or pee on it or crap on it or around it or under it, then it doesn't matter to them. Yes, Mr. P., they truly are evil. Oh, sure. They can cuddle and purr and make you feel better when you're sad. But if you leave that towel on the floor and expect to use it the next day, be prepared to be covered in cat vomit, at the very least. Bastards.

Larry Zonka was a football player. I don't know for which team...but I heard his name in a joke on MST3K...yeah. That's how lame I am.

Larry Csonka was a running-back who lead the Miami Dolphins to three Superbowls in a row from '71-'73. In '72 they had a perfect record, 17-0. His nickname was 'Zonk' and he was a huge guy about 6'6" tall and 275 lbs. He broke and set all kinds of records and is in the NFL hall of fame.

And you're not 'lame', Froggy, you're just young... enjoy it while you can... (wink and hug and kiss and grope... oh wait... I better stop this because there are women and children here...)

Re:Zombie Critters
Oh oh! I just remembered! I haven't seen the movie yet, but are the sheep in Black Sheep zombies? Or just mutations?

Re:Zombie Critters
The sheep in the aforementioned flick are merely infected, bloodthirsty, slavering, murderous wool-bearers :). The only zombie animal I can think of after Dr. Gor took the cat from Pet Sematary was the split dog from Return of the Living Dead, the campy spoof of the unending spate of Dead this and Dead that movies that persists to this day. There was an anatomical model of a dog made by splitting it vertically and preserving it with formaldehyde. When the synthetic chemical crap splashes on it and revivifies it, it starts barking and squealing, which draws two men's attention. They don't know what's going on or where it's coming from, but they're pretty sure they hear a dog. Stepping lightly toward it, they see it is a dog but also that something is wrong. One of them picks it up, sees it's only half a dog (he couldn't see that before?) and rightly screams bloody murder, heading for the hills. 8)
