"Lavender Lear"

Three Shakespearean actors in the 1800s (played by Olivier, Richardson, and Gielgud) are outed and leave England in disgrace. The thespians set out for the Wild West, where they will build a theater and bring culture to the uncultured. On the way, they pick up three grizzled Americans to assist them (Walter Brennan, Wallace Beery, and John Houston). After a variety of tribulations, as the six build their Globe in the wilderness, each actor hooks up with one of the assistants. I see this as "Babes in Arms" meets "Shakespere in Love" meets "Treasure of the Sierra Madre."

I'd start with Brad Pitt as my portagonist.  I think he is a good actor and he would help bring in the bucks.  Then I would go with Gary Oldman as the villian.  Then let's add Scarlett Johansson as the love intrest.  Easy on the eyes, and a great actor to boot.  You HAVE to have Steve Buscemi in there somewhere.  Then in Tarintinoesque fashion, I would bring Mandy Patinkin back from the box office dead.

With my low budget character-driven independent feature i'd cast:

1) Philip Seymour Hoffman

2) Giovanni Ribisi

3) Parker Posey

4) Jeremy Sisto

5) Ryan Gosling

All five have done great, consistent independent work and would be affordable.

And Gus Van Sant would direct.

When I'm hired to save Tony Scott's ill-fated remake of The Warriors, I'd save the entire project by hiring these actors...

1. Swan, the hero and leader of The Warriors - Adrien Brody

2. Ajax, the hot tempered, smart-mouthed side-kick Warrior - Seth Rogan

3. Rembrandt, the youngest warrior - Joseph Gordon-Levitt

4. Luther, the psychotic leader of the rival gang - Christian Bale

5. Cyrus, the man who tries to unite the gangs until he's shot down by Luther - Forest Whitker

I challenge everyone to come up with a story, but my film would have:

Alan Rickman and Frances McDormand as the male and female lead

Peter Sarsgaard in some supporting part.

Charlotte Ramping, probably as a psychologist or writer or an observer of some other sort

Clive Owen, just because he needs to be in as many movies as possible.

While I would direct and star, I'd have to get all of my actor friends parts. But I would have Ewan McGregor, Rachel McAdams, Chris Cooper, Holly Hunter, William H. Macy and forrest Whitaker in the film as well. It would take place in Savannah, Georgia and would be some kind of small town murder mystery.

For my film I will be adapting the video game Metal Gear to the screen. I know, I know ... videogame movies are a dangerous business for a director who wants to keep his credibility, but I think it can be done.

Dennis Haysbert as Col.  Roy Cambell
