Top 5 Journalism Movies
On Filmspotting #165 Sam and Adam count down the Top 5 Journalism Movies, honoring A Mighty Heart and Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. It's their All the President's Men Memorial List. What would your Top 5 be?

Re: Top 5 Journalism Movies
Some of these movies feature journalism more centrally some more incidentally. 1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - Gonzo Journalism at it's most iconic 2. Citizen Kane - Journalism as a theme and part of the structure 3. Shattered Glass - true story of fake stories 4. All The President's Men 5. No Man's Land - how journalism doesn't just report on wars, but often affects wars, and sometimes even starts them Runner's up - Shock Corridor, The Hudsucker Proxy, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Good Night, and Good Luck.

No Man's Land would work over in the Most Disturbing group, too.

Re: Top 5 Journalism Movies
Zodiac was mentioned a few times in listener emails and I'm glad... definitely a strong contender for my list. I remember seeing and reviewing No Man's Land but can't recall a journalism angle... what am I forgetting? Thanks!

I don't remember the journalism angle either. Wanted to mention that in La Dolce Vita (1960), Mastroianni is a young gossip jounalist.

adamkemp: I remember seeing and reviewing No Man's Land but can't recall a journalism angle... what am I forgetting? Thanks! Oh man, No Man's Land was all about the media getting involved for most of the movie from what I remember. I guess it's difficult for me to remember the exact specifics either. But if I recall the premis was that there were some guys stuck together and they couldn't let eachother go and they couldn't move because it would set off a bomb. Then they realized that they would have to work together to get out of it. Well from what I remember there was almost a solution and they were all agreeing to cooperate, but then the media got hold of the situation and a reporter came in with her crew. And once the situation was broadcast then some people higher up heard about it and two sides couldn't agree to help again. So the guys were still stuck there, and that's how it ended. Does anyone remember more specifically? Or if I'm not quite right on this?

Re: Top 5 Journalism Movies
Reading the Ebert review, it sort of comes back to me, especially the fog at the beginning... http://rogerebert.suntimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20011221/REVIEWS/112210306/1023
