"Midwest's Best Independent Film Festival"

Group Owners (1)

Description:

This group is all about sharing the fun of independent film in western Michigan.  We can make lists of the films that screen and films we love as well as discuss the films and events we partake in of thee Waterfront Film Festival.

We can also use this group to help others on 'how' to Waterfront.  Saugatuck is a small coastal town with big sandy dunes, great towny bars, several ice cream stands, quaint B&Bs, great shopping, talented artists, and the best quirky venues a festival could ask for.

Favorite film?

What did you see at Waterfront that you really loved?  I was lucky to see several films and sit in all the seminars meeting some very interesting actors, producers, writers, and directors.  Trying to fit in all that is possible, I'm still working out a 12 hour sleep deficit!  I really enjoyed myself this year.

I had a few favorites from the weekend.  I sat on the edge of my seat watching Stephen Baldwin in Midnight Clear as his character spiraled deeper into desperation hoping he wouldn't harm and watching as connections of other characters where made to each other.

My eyes were full of tears during Memories of Tomorrow, a tear drop running down my cheek every ten minutes as I watched a young businessman fall to Alzheimers his life devoted to his work, his remaining life now frustrating and wasted in a shrinking mind.

I laughed quite a bit with, What's Wrong with DeeDee.  This a very lighthearted film of miscommunication and good deeds.  It's also produced by a Michigan company, Purple Rose!!

I really enjoyed Blue State though it moved a little slow.  For all of those/ all of us disgruntled with the current administration you'll enjoy watching the main character trying to find his way to Canada then realizing what he really needs to do.

How could I forget American Fork??!  This team of film makers is also responsible for Napolian Dynamite and Saquatch Dumpling Gang.  The films are clean, hilarious, and always have a good message.  It was nice to meet filmmakers devoted to their craft and making films that the whole family would enjoy.

Re: Favorite film?

Favorite movie this year was Chapter 27.  Although, I prefer the darker, edgier movies about crime and Waterfront tends to play the quirky dramas and comedies more than anything else.  But that's okay.  I like those too.

Blue State was better than I thought.  I also liked Go Getters, When A Man Falls In The Forest and divergence.  I can't remember every thing I saw, because I saw a lot of movies.  Dirty Country was hilarious.  Golden Days, I'll Never Forget You and Wrath Of Gods were all good documentaries.
