   2. I joined B&W because I LOVE Old Movies! (duh!)

   3.  I would like to see a list of B&W 'Horror Films'... I could contribute, if you would like... the list would be immense.

   4.  I have been watching and studying Movies for more than 40 years... Horror Movies are my favorite, but I like other 'oldies' as well...

   5.  "Frankenstein", "Dracula", "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame"...

   6.  ...  some knowledge... maybe some converts to my group...

4.  Hard to say.  Enthusiasm, but hopefully that's not so unique.  Maybe I'll find out after a few discussions.

Hi there! Proud to say this is my FIRST BLOG here on SPOUT! Anyways, here goes...

1. NAME/ALIAS - Jake Stevens

2. WHY I JOINED B&W - I love that era of filmmaking! Specifically the 40's & 50's (WWII era). Bogey, Hitchcock, Peck, Davis, Kelly, Hepburn, Zanuck, early Looney Tunes...I'll take 'em all!

3. ANY LISTS YOU'D LIKE TO SEE ADDED - Hmmm...maybe a "favorites" list. Like favorite actors (Top 10?). Favorite directors. Favorite films. Favorite moments.

4. WHAT YOU FEEL YOU UNIQUELY BRING TO THE TABLE - A ridiculous amount of trivial knowledge. I have over 1,200 DVDs at home...many of them are considered "classics", I suppose.

5. WHAT FILM(S) SPARKED YOUR LOVE FOR THE CLASSICS? - Hmmm...maybe it was a knee-jerk reaction from seeing crappy new movies and wanting to know how much better the original was. Also, I did a family tree a while ago and wanted to know and see what the world was like in the era of my grandparents, whom I have endless love and respect for. But one "for sure" film that pops in mind is "The Grapes of Wrath". Another is "Casablanca". Yet another is "The Apartment".

6. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO GAIN FROM THIS GROUP? - To find other folks out there who love and appreciate "all that came before" as much as I do.

7. SOMETHING RANDOM/INTERESTING/OR JUST PLAIN WEIRD ABOUT YOURSELF... - I only write in black ink. No blue pens. No pencils. I just won't do it. Period.

Hey Jake, thanks for posting!

I think it would be exciting to get some discussions going in this group.  I've been doing this weird thing where I've been watching one movie from every year by release date.  You can see my list here.

I'm starting to get to the point where more of what I'm seeing is in B&W than in color.  Just saw a few classics like White Heat and Born to Kill.  I'm loving it!

my mom will only use a fountain pen with green ink.
