Help to find a missing film
How many times I have thought of a film and remembered only bits and pieces and if you know anything about the unreliability of Memory http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2005-03/du-ems030805.php ; http://www.amazon.com/Eyewitness-Testimony-new-preface-author/dp/0674287770/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-8380071-7184419?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1173130812&sr=1-1 then you are well aware, wait!!! your memory is probably swell! then you know that it is my memory that is questionable In a recent discussion with xxchunkyxx718 about a missing film, here are a couple of synopses begging for a title... ( here is hoping that 'Wisdom of the Crowds' is just that) 1. the movie is domestic, i'm gearing towards it being in the drama section or some sort of drama/family. It was made before 1995 I know that much and as far as my memory goes, the movie is about a girl and an older man who is sort of like an outcast in their town or villiage, this girl goes to this man and tries to get him to give her music lessons or singing lessons but he's very unfriendly and I think says no, but i remember bits and pieces of the movie like she always carried I think whats called a book satchel or a belt looking thing that carries her books and i remember her giving it to him either as a thank you or a gift trying to get him to give her the music lessons. The last parts of it that i remember is him giving her the music lessons and the towns people find out about it and raid this mans house and burn it, i remember the towns people throwing all of his things like his music notes and small furniture off of his balcony and this was all during where the girl was singing in some concert and the people destroying the pianist's house was kind of faded in the background of the girls concert. The only other thing i remember is when the girl was in the man's house a woman was talking to her and the girl i think asked some questions about the man and the woman said to her "just remember that curiosity killed the cat". ... 2....I am trying to find a film that I saw one night on cable 5 or 6 years ago, I think it was set in Florida or something. A young girl was chained in some cage/box and went through a hurrican and fortunately ( I think at least ) the 'care giver' ( god what a description ) was killed in the storm and the young girl was found...after that I have no idea what happened...I think I fell asleep. but I would love to find it. please feel free to join in with any films you would love to locate...

Re: Help to find a missing film
Wow, Puhnner, I have no idea what either of those films you describe could be. I think we live in a time when a lot of what we think are movies are actually television shows. I'm sure Lifetime has created a mental haze for movies with a woman fighting to get her daughter back while leaving an abusive husband.
One of the strongest impressions left on my young mind involves a movie set in WWII behind German lines. A family is trying to escape to some unoccupied country. They make a balloon and fill it with hot air in the middle of the night. While the balloon is taking off, a stake in the ground is jerked out and hits a boy in the forehead. He doesn't die, but there's a bad gash. I want to say Charles Bronson is in this movie, but I have no idea what it's called.

Re: Help to find a missing film
I got nothin' on either of those. I got one that I've been trying to figure out for years... A young girl (about 5 or 6) is playing with her brother near train tracks and somehow her body gets cut in half at the waist. I remember that she was wearing a really frilly dress. Her Parents or Grand Parents take her to the hospital and she's in the back of the car, laying across the lap of the person holding her in the back seat. I think there's an engine that bumps a line of still train cars from behind, and she was sitting underneath on the track or something.... I saw this when I was about 7 or so, that would have made it about 1987 or 1988...

Re: Help to find a missing film
wow, no help for any of you there, but i do have one of my own... saw most of it on cable one night, it's a horror film where an old man is trying to tell some younger people about how a cat killed off a bunch of other old people he lived with in a huge house, one by one. each story could also have been an accident (being tripped by the cat and falling down stairs, the cat causing a car accident...) so the young people don't believe him. of course at the end the cat kills the old man, by burrowing into his body and crawling out his mouth!! it was messed up.

Re: Help to find a missing film
This sounds a bit like a 'Night Gallery' episode, but really is too gory for TV. 'I must see this one!' it sounds great!

Re: Help to find a missing film
That was Tales from the Darkside, specifically the segment appropriately named Cat from Hell. I remember it because of that final sequence, the cat crawling down William Hickey's throat, fussing around in his entrails and clawing its bloody way back out. Read up on that gore and more: http://bloodgutsandgore.com. ;)

Re: Help to find a missing film
the hurricane/caged girl story sounds familiar but i have no idea - sorry! you might already know this but IMDB has a place to search plots in their database by key words. example: "abducted by aliens" or "evil twin." it might be worth a shot.

Re: Help to find a missing film
That first one you mentioned, with the music teacher, sounds pretty familiar to me actually. But maybe it just just because you paint such a detailed picture. The girl didn't have any resemblence to Hayley Mills did she? Do you know what time period it was set in? I actually had one a while ago that I was trying to figure out and posted to some website and finally determined it was a TV movie called Snowbound: The Jim and Jennifer Stolpa Story. The real life story of some couple that got straneded in some horrible snowy weather. Parts of their feet were cut off after they were rescued due to frostbite. I've got a little bit of permanent frostbite on the end of my toes from working in the freezer at the Spartan warehouse one summer. Don't ever take that job. I'd forgotten Neil Patrick Harris was in this movie, or that would have been easier to search by.

Re: Help to find a missing film
Im not exactly sure who Hayley Mills is, but the time setting i'm pretty sure is kind of like Anne of Green Gables, old fashioned and really english. Sorry I don't know the correct termonology. Even if you don't think it is the same movie could I have the title of it to see if it jogs my memory at all? And thank you all for trying to help. ~Brittney
