Famous Movie Stars that started their Careers in Horror Movies
Of course the most obvious one who struggled very hard to break out of the scary movie mold was Jamie Lee Curtis (how many horror movies has she been in? Halloween 1 and 2, Terror Train, The Fog, Prom Night - can't think of any more) but who are some others? I know Johnny Depp was in Nightmare on Elm Street and Kevin Bacon was in the first Friday the 13th and Tara Reid was a little girl in Salem's Lot II (or Return to Salem's Lot) Are there any that you know of? Or even some that maybe we wouldn't even recognize? I'm sure there are a LOT more than what I can think of...

I believe "Black Christmas" may have been one of Margot Kidders first movies... Also, I don't remember Sigourney Weaver in anything before "Alien" ... I may be wrong... How about Kirsten Dunst in "Interview With The Vampire" ... AND, let's not forget my ALL TIME FAVORITE, the ONE TRUE LOVE OF MY LIFE.... Linda Blair!

Well, it's a good thing you mentioned Linda Blair, Doc, because I was beginning to forget that you liked her. ;p Anyway, it's pretty funny, I don't know if this was his very FIRST movie, but at the end of In the Mouth of Madness, a very small, very young Hayden "Anakin Skywalker" Christianson can be seen riding his bike through an intersection of a dirt road. I can't quite recall why, but he stops to give someone or other some directions. I don't think he talks. He just points. And then goes along his merry way. I thought that was the damn funniest thing ever when I saw the credits. Also, I don't know if this was his first movie, but Joey (or Joseph as he goes by, now) Lawrence was in Tales from the Darkside: The Movie with Debbie Harry. Whoa!

Well, it wasn't exactly his first movie, but it was probably the one that made people sit up and take notice: Jack Nicholson in the 1960 version of "Little Shop of Horrors."
His first movie was "The Cry Baby Killer" in 1958.

Re: Famous Movie Stars that started their Careers in Horror Movies
I just watched Joey Lawrence (he will always be little Joey to me, such a cutie) in Rest stop the other night. He wasn't on there for very long. I wonder if he has any other movies in the works or if he is just getting bit parts here and there.

Although they were not her FIRST movies... Jodie Foster was only about 12 or so when she starred in "Taxi Driver" and "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane" .... that last one actually WAS a Horror Movie!

I remember seeing The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane when I was about 13 or 14 on TV. I still remember a lot of things from that movie. When my friends and I kid around about getting rid of someone I always say, let's just give them a little "almond" flavored tea...lol.

LateNighter - Now that you mention it, Jack Nicholson was also in a movie called The Terror with Boris Karloff in 1963. It was directed by Roger Corman, who also directed the 1960 version of Little Shop of Horrors that you mentioned. IMDb has a bad average rating, but I didn't think it was all that bad. Of course, I love cheesy B films, but it really wasn't even laughable.

I just remembered that Joy Ride (2001) had, aside from Steve Zahn and Leelee Sobieski, Paul Walker (pre-Fast and the Furious fame).
