Do you actually watch the special features?

How often do you watch the special features on a DVD? If it's just a typical movie I liked, I probably won't watch any of them. Maybe outtakes, blooper reels, or deleted scenes if there are any. Those are the three most typical features watched for me.

However, if it's a movie I love, like Hot Fuzz, I'll watch nearly all of them, or perhaps all. I'm on my way with Hot Fuzz. I'd like to watch it with commentary (the UK version got 4 commentaries, we only got one), and the trvia track (Fuzz-O-Meter).

usually i am all about the trailers and thats about it.  i do some deleted scenes for movies i really like and some makings of and or director commentary usually for based on true story movies but thats about it.  must say i have a ton of dvds that have as many as 3 extra discs of special features but dont usually watch most of them.

Yeah, that's pretty much the same with me. I have super special editions of some movies/trilogies.. like the special Matrix trilogy 10 disc set.. I've only ever watched the movies.. no special features on any of them, or the Animatrix.. I've watched 3 out of 10 discs. Hahahahaha. But it does have a cool bust of Neo.

I may end up buying the super awesome edition of Blade Runner as well. 5 discs, 5 different versions of the film, nice figurines and a briefcase. Damn. Hahahah

yes that matrix neo bust is cool but box is a little on the bulky side.  have seen it a few times used at eb but never got it because of how big it is.  still cool though.  not so sure i could do that with blade runner though...really didnt like that much...then again i think i was like 10 when i saw it so who knows.  since then i have a different view of harrison ford so maybe i should check it out again.

Hey all.  I have absolutely no affinity with HMC, I just spend too much time on Spout in all of the groups so I thought I'd join you.  Let me know if you want me to butt out.

Anyways I guess I'm totally opposite of you all because I'm very anal about watching all of the special features on a disc.  Even if they turn out to be the stupidest most pointless thing.  Ok, I'll admit, I don't look at story boards when they put those on there usually.  But I feel like I'm forced to watch them by some unknown force, even if I realize they are worthless.

A lot of times the special features are better than the actual movie though!!

Re: Do you actually watch the special features?

Hey, everyone is welcome. :)

Anyways, I wish I was a bit more like that. I think I feel that I would get more satisfaction (and overall value) out of my DVDs if I did watch more of the special features. But somehow, I can just never bring myself to watch them unless it's a movie I really enjoy. Something like Gladiator or Hannibal I've watched the deleted scenes and a little bit else, and I enjoy those movies A LOT. I'm working on clearing out all the special features for Hot Fuzz though, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite movies in a very long time.

On a side note, I don't think I've ever watched an entire movie with the commentary. I've started a few, but I don't think I've ever finished. Hot Fuzz will be the first. :)
