Don't even bother.

This movie is so terribly bad, I am embarassed to admit that I rented it. I had heard so many great things about the musical that I knew I had to see it. The movie ended up being a box-office bomb so I waited to rent it. I made it through only the first 15 minutes. At that point I figured I had given it a fair chance to redeem itself and catch my interest, but it did not.

The only feeling I received from this film was one of annoyance. I was really dissapointed. This one can be filed under, "Better on Stage then on Film"

Hey, Kami.  You can add anything to any list in the group as a group member.  Which is true of all the groups.  So, add it to the list.  And then when the rest of us get around to seeing it (if ever...your review may have dissuaded us), we can either agree or disagree and go from there!  Thanx for the info!

Sorry, I guess I didn't know how things worked.

nothing to be sorry about :-)  it's just part of learning the spoutish nuances.  but since members do have group privileges like adding to lists, it's a bit easier for you to add it than for the group leaders (esp, say, me) to try and remember to add stuff.  and, it's all part of the community and blah blah.

i have a question, though, and this is for the group at large.  Closer was added to the "Better on Stage" list - but Closer was based on a straight play not a musical.  are we broadening the Better on Stage list?  because i'm sure i could think of a ton of better straight plays than plays to film if i put my mind to it...

Ooh, good question. I have not been adding plays to the list, just musicals. It might be nice to add plays though. On a side note, have you ever seen Closer on stage? I've heard it's a great play, I've seen the movie and it is one of my favorites, I bet the stage version is even more intense and emotional.

I COMPLETELY agree.

I heard the musical was wonderful, so I was excited to see it in theatres with my sister.

Throughout the whole thing we were thinking "How the hell did this get a Tony?"

The songs weren't good, and the whole storyline was just a bit illogical and ridiculous.
I even find it hard to believe that the broadway version was any good after watching this movie.
