Top 5 Bad Movies by Great Directors

Planet of the Apes - Tim Burton.

The Brothers Grimm  - Terry Gilliam

Bad News Bears - Richard Linklater

Psycho - Gus Van Sant

Most Woody Allen Movies

Strange how great directors **** up so many remakes. What do you think?

Under discussion:

Psycho  (1998)

The Hulk  (2003)

Re:Top 5 Bad Movies by Great Directors

I'll agree with you on all of those except for Woody Allen...sort of. He's made some bad movies of late (Melinda and Melinda, Hollywood Ending, etc.) but there have been a few of the more recent bunch of his films in a while that are really quite good(Match Point, Scoop, and Small Time Crooks to name three). Get back to me after he's made another two or three movies, and I may have adjusted my opinion.

Also (and this isn't an argument, just a statement) does anyone else think Richard Linklater has been kind of falling off in recent years? It seems like he's been getting kind of pretentious lately, with stuff like "A Scanner Darkly" and "Fast Food Nation" that were billed as being these subversive, major cultural statements. But I actually found "A Scanner Darkly" to be a little dull (not to mention way too long) and "Fast Food Nation" didn't get a very warm critical response, if I remember correctly. Just wondering.

I actually like ths psycho remake.  I thought of it more of an excercise in discipline rather than a "remake".
Lets see...no particular order:
1. Finding Forrester - Gus Van Sant
2. Oceans 11,12,13 - Soderberg
3.  The Idiots - Lars Von Trier
4. Master and Commander - Peter Wier
5. Fast Food Nation - Richard Linklater

I hated brothers grimm, but have never really liked terry gilliam, and yes, planet of the apes was awful. just awful.

Oh this one has some potential from some heated debates I think.

Although I couldn't really think of any other than The Hulk directed by Ang Lee.  Even though I've only seen two of his other movies, but those were good.  The Hulk is absolutely horrible though.  No surprise the upcomming Hulk movie was totally recast and makes no reference to the Ang Lee one.

Hulk was fucking awful... I considered it but I've never gotten Ang Lee. I've never been in to any of his movies, that I've seen, so I left it off.
