Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze

So Lain is one of my favorite series. I love the dialog and the philosophical content of the series. Plus the art of the series is really neat. I think Lain makes for some of the best wallscrolls because the art looks so stylized and classy. Moreover, the opening song by Boa, Duvet, is a terrific song. The artist has such a passionate way of singing and the lyrics are very pleasant to listen to. Most of the songs on the cd, Twilight, from Boa share the same feeling plus the cd has an acoustic version of Duvet on it. >^_^< ++

Anyways, the creator of the series came out with another anime called Texhnolyze. I just finished that one today while doing some work. It is another very abstract anime with a theme centralized on the human condition and human societal evolution. It had a very stylized feeling to it that was going on the wayside of being simply absurd to snobbish. I am glad that I saw it, but I don't think it will be climbing my list of favorites anytime soon. Series length is 22 episodes. Lot of the artistic style from the Lain carried over to this one. I was wondering if anyone had heard about this series. I also am aware that the creator of these two series had created another series in between the two. I do not know its name. I was wondering if someone else had heard of it.

Spout does not even have texhnolyze on the website, the last time I checked. And the series came out in 2004, so brand, shiny new cannot be their excuse.

Re: Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze

I've seen the first three episodes of Lain, and i've been meaning to watch the rest, just haven't really gotten around to it ^^;; One of my friends recomended it though, and he said it was really good. Personally I find it a little hard to follow, but I guess it's suposed to be like that.

I haven't heard of either of those other two series, so can't tell you the second one's name. Sorry.

And is Texhnolyze out in America? Spout tends to not have foreign films unless they've been brought over by an american company. They're also lacking Death Note (both the anime series and live action movie), as well as Suzumiya Haruhi, Ouran High School Host Club, and many other animes that haven't yet had an American release.

Re: Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze

Texhnolyze is an american release, I picked it up from Best Buy. Lain is hard to follow, that was one of the reasons I liked it. Made it a lot more difficult to second guess what was going to happen. Texhnolyze was difficult to follow at times too, but that was because of all the different factions and the relatively avant-guarde format that the series was presented.
