Conventions
So... does anyone else here ever go to anime conventions?
I'm going to Youmacon this weekend, I'm very excited. I went last year, it was really fun.
Is anyone else going? Or is anyone going to Ohayocon in January?
I'll post pictures when I get back! ^_^

Conventions
Alright, I have a question for the group. Would you like updates about conventions? Or do you generally not care? Let me know, because if you guys are interested I can post alot more information on here. And if you're not I can stop spamming our group.

Re: Youmacon Pix
lol. I'm not opposed to information about cons--such as when and where, and the occasional blurb from those that have attended one. As for me, I've been to FanimeCon in San Jose 3 years in a row now, and SacAnime--Sunrise & Scottish Rite (it sucked, hence why I only went once. FanimeCon is superb). Other than saying that FanimeCon is freaking awesome I don't know what else to say :S. It's so much fun and HUGE. It's so crazy. The first year I went there was nothing but Naruto cosplayers EVERYWHERE, the second year it was FMA, and this year it was...well I don't think there was one big one this year to be honest. One of these days I'm going to cossplay lol.

Re: Youmacon Pix
Didn't like that bubble tea eh? I've never had that stuff. Although I do often get these fruit shake drinks at this great Vietnamese restauran that looks the same and has the tapioca in it. It's wonderful!

Re: Conventions
I can honestly say, yes I've gone to conventions...mostly Wizards' Comic Cons (which might as well be Ani-cons). I used to write for Anime Insider Magazine; I may one day again. Who knows. As far as the Bubble Tea (or Boba...) it's actually REALLY GOOD and my suspicion is that you had CRAP boba and not GOOD boba. There is a place in Grand Rapids, on 44th and Division that is delicious. I highly recommend getting the pineapple bananna smoothy with boba (although you can substitue the boba for jelly...but don't...) The boba at Boba Latte is BLACK and I think that makes a huge difference. It's sweeter. Bruce is one of the owners, give him Love, he's cool. Oh, back to cons... I REALLY want to go to the Inernational Comic Con WIzard is doing in San Diego. The line up looks amazing...something for everyone...conventions can sometimes take a whole other world away from the subject matter, but some how they all relate. Your photos look awesome BTW (n_n) I've never done the whole cosplay thing; however when I was at Comic-Con in Chicago I saw the most AMAZING Willy Wonka (Depp Style) and I SWARE he was sent by the studio...but he said he wasn't .

Re: Conventions
Thanks for the tip about that place, I didn't know it existed, I'll be sure to check it out. And I suppose i'll be willing to give Bubble Tea another try, despite my current fear of it. Everyone I've talked to (besides the people that drank it at the same time as me at Youmacon) have told me that it's delicious. I hope you have fun at Comic Con if you end up going! Make sure to give us a report when you get back ^.~ I would like to go, but living very far from San Diego, and not having a way or money to get out there makes it kind of hard to attend. And I'm glad you like our cosplay ^_^ Honestly, most of it was made or finished the night before the con. ^_^;;; We are such procrastinators. But we entered in the cosplay contest and had fun, even though we didn't win anything (we didn't really expect to) HERE's a video of the contest, we show up exactly 4 minutes in. You may notice that Kris' shoes look a little deformed. That's because we needed to add platforms to try and make her the same height as me, and they were made last minute by taping a couple of platform sandals of mine together, and obviosuly i have much bigger feet then her, so it didn't work out the greatest ^^;; . We entered in the cosplay contest at ACen this year too, with Pokémon cosplay. You can see a video of our skit HERE. :3 I was Officer Jenny, my sister (Hello Kitty from above) was Jessie, my friend Kris (Kaoru + Ed from above) was Nurse Joy, her boyfriend Pat was Brock, and our other friend Josey was James. We didn't win anything again, but it was still fun performing our skit (despite the fact that we had to wait two hours before hand which was really boring). I'm going to Jafax this weekend, though I'm not really sure you can call that a convention ^^:; It should be pretty fun though, I plan to enter in their "fashion show" with my Officer Jenny cosplay.

Re: Conventions
I went to Anime South last year (pretty small... only done 2 or 3) and Megacon (HUGE) and from going to both of those I can say... small conventions are about having fun and about the people, while the big conventions are about buying buying buying... both were fun, but I can truly say I liked Anime South better... Anime South album... most of the pics anyway... the good ones at least http://s30.photobucket.com/albums/c303/SpikeTheBountyHunter/Anime%20South/ I didn't get any Megacon ones because there was SO MANY, and I know how much time it'd take out if I took pics, but now I regret that, cause there were some awesome costumes there... I'll be sure to take a camera just in case next time...

Re: Conventions
Yeah, sometimes small cons can be more fun, though I'd have to say favorite con ever is still Anime Central. But sometimes if they're too small they lose their fun, such as a local con Jafax, where they don't even have show panels or anything. I'm also a sucker for getting vocie actor autographs, and usually the big cons have more ^^;; I like you're pics, pretty cool. Are any of them of you? I like the Ed cosplayer in the first pic, and the Banana Phone, lol. This picture wouldn't happen to be Vic Mignogna, would it? It really looks like him, but it's a little blurry so I wasn't sure. >.>
