Re: Name all the live shows you have seen!

Oh please Mike don't get me started! My list would go on and on forever! And not just "small local shows". I've seen hundreds, literally hundreds of big, critically acclaimed acts. I'll be seeing 14 shows this weekend.

But to begin, Ambulance LTD, Annie, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, Ben Kweller, Better Than Ezra, Blackalicious, Bloc Party, Blonde Redhead, The Books, Bright Eyes, Cake, Chromeo, Counting Crows, Death Cab for Cutie, Dinosaur Jr., Dirty on Purpose, DJ Shadow, The Faint, The Fiery Furnaces, Ghostface, Interpol, Iron & Wine, Jon Brion, Lady Sovereign, Lifesavas, M83, Metric, Pixies, Radiohead, the Secret machines, Serena Maneesh, Sigur Rós, Spoon, Stephen Malkmus, The Streets, Tegan and Sara, U2, Vitalic, Weezer, AND THATS JUST A FEW! This weekend will include, The Silver Jews, The Walkmen, Art Brut, Destroyer, Band of Horses, Spoon, Yo La Tengo, Devandra Banhart, Mission of Burma, Aesop Rock, Liars, The National, Jens Lekman, Danielson, Tapes n Tapes, just to name a few. And I haven't even listed the opening acts here.

So to name every concert I have seen is unfair, cause there are too many to list but I did list some very good shows I have seen.

-Tyler

Why are all the bands listed here hard rock? This is a genre! I hope people have wider range of musical taste than one genre! Its as if all I listed in Spout were action flicks! There is more to music than slamming fast guitars, and super talented show off musicians "rocking out"! Sure, I can respect these bands but I can not respect the fact that 90% of the bands listed are all in the same genre!

tmoney:

Most of mine are rock/hardcore...but not all, Jay-Z, Lamb, Orbital, Underworld and Chemical Brothers are all different forms of music...I have a few other non-rock artists that I know I've seen but can't recall at the moment. Lamb was probably one of the greatest shows I've ever seen....

I saw Pantera and Slayer as part of an Ozzfest, both were on the main stage...I did see Pantera in a small venue years ago and it was a very energetic show with Phill talking a lot of crap from the stage....

I just saw In Flames a month or so ago and was actually kind of disappointed...it was at the Orbit Room and they had all these remote lights flashing around and fog machines so you couldn't really see the band at all and it really distracted from the music...It was kind of sad because their opener Throwdown put on a really great set with none of those crutches...it it hurts when the opener puts on a better set than the main act....

Re: Name all the live shows you have seen!

as many of you have mentioned, i too have seen too many shows to list here in one space.  however, i will offer a sampling of some of my more favorite shows that will hopefully widen the genre offering (as tmoney has asked for -- btw tmoney, it sounds like you're off to pitchfork in union park this weekend.  enjoy!).

and in no particular order of cool shows:

U2, Coldplay, Ron Sexsmith, David Grey, Phish (club show in Prague!), The Flaming Lips, KMFDM, Sound Garden, Neil Young, Garbage, Moby, Mudhoney, Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco), MartinMedesky&Wood, Buddy Guy, Lenny Kravitz, The Counting Crows, Live, Sufjan Stevens, Koko Taylor, Guster, The Kingston Trio, Over the Rhine, Beastie Boys, Nine Inch Nails, and Santana.

the Phish show i caught in prague was hilighted in the documentary "bittersweet motel".  the day before the show i was a few blocks from the theatre where they were going to perfom and mike gordon (bassist) walked by with a film crew trailing him, and he actually stopped and talked to me and my friend.  needless to say that bit of footage was left to the cutting room floor.

my sister-in-law was able to be in attendance at U2's "live from boston".  both she and my brother (on seperate occassions) have met bono (both times at harvard, no less).

Phish in Prague! That gives me goose bumps just thinking about it!
We are big fans of Phish!
I have seen them several times but was never able to catch their New Years Eve shows, so sad.
I haven't seen "bittersweet motel" yet, but my boyfriend owns it, so I will have to sit down and watch it. We are actually good friends with Phish's lawyer/archivist, so he got into a lot of the back stage happenings. I wish they would tour again soon, I need a Phish fix :)
