Loudest concerts out there?
Ive been to quite a few pretty loud concerts - including Metallica (3 times), Black Label Society, Mastadon, Mudvayne, Deftones, POD. However, the loudest act I've ever been to had to have been Rob Zombie at the orbit room in GR. Normally my ears ring into the day after the concert, but after that one, my hearing was going in and out and ringing for 2 months straight. Great show though.

Dillinger escape plan. I missed them play last night but have seen them before and they were just insane. I couldn't stand on my own after the concert and was drenched with other people's sweat. yummy. For over a week everytime there was silience a buzzing sound would just get louder and louder. aiieeee

One band has the notorious title of loudest live show in the world. A band from glasgow called Mogwai.

Hrmm, loudest concert? I would have say that Underworld and Chemical Brothers were pretty loud, and Atri Teenage Riot was made my ears ring for a couple of days, but I think that was due to the venu's tendency to be an echo chamber....Overall I think the loudest show I've been too was the second or third time I saw Slipknot...right after they started to get big and had a sizeable tour, it was just a wall of sound from all of those drums.

I saw a KISS cover band called Strutter in a bowling alley once. They played the first KISS Alive! album verbatim. It was fabulous. That was by far the loudest show I've ever been to. It damaged my ears permanently.
I thought it was somehow cool to go without earplugs. Message to kids everywhere: Wear earplugs. And watch Detroit Rock City.

I should point out that the Rob Zombie show that I attended was filmed for an upcoming DVD, so Rob taunted the crowd, increasing the decibels by quite a bit.

basically... yes. it was actually super boring performance wise. my friend fell asleep.
but physically, it was kind of an incredible experience. sound waves TORE through your body and ripped it apart. my nostrils were literally flapping. it's felt like those old filmstrips of people breaking the sound barrier look like.
that said, i could have really done with a more engaging perfomance. i have seen shows that have come close sonically, but had been far more fun/interesting to watch.
i saw thrones (former member of sunn, melvins) a couple days later and it was a lot more fun.
