New Feed and Design Feedback

We just launched our new design and user feed - let us know what you think.

It looks totally awesome!  And it feels easier to navigate.  Information is packaged a lot nicer.

There's a few bugs I've noticed like some tab graphics not lining up right, but I'm sure you'll notice that.

The biggest negative though is that loading pages is now MUCH slower!

I think it looks nifty, although I would like an option to customize what information I get on my main page. I love knowing when my contacts have written something, but I don't really like having to scroll through all of their list additions and tag descriptions to get there.

I agree with TheWorkingDead.  I miss the dashboard.  I think that was an easier way to navigate than these picklists up top.  The nice thing about the dashboard was that you could see which of your conversations were being responded to and when without having to scroll through pages and pages of stuff.  Or, read recent blog posts.  I suppose the concept now is to rely on the feed or to find your conversations using the pick list,s but I find that, well, kind of annoying because you get everything, and I don't need to know everything, and you have to search for it when you didn't have to search quite so long before.  The feed idea was clearly modeled on facebook...but facebook is facebook and Spout is Spout.  The other pages are nice to look at, too, but I think streamlining them the way they have been streamlined, I don't know, I'm not sure I like it.  I can't articulate why right now.  Words escape me (unbelivably).  I'll play around with them more, and see if I like them better, but the biggest thing is the dashboard.  I miss that most.  So, I'd like to be able to customize my feed too. facebook allows such customization, and I think myspace does too, on a limited basis, since they recently added something similar.

This is all really great feedback and I really appreciate everyone taking the time to put their thoughts together. We hear you too on being able to customize or filter your feed. This is a feature we are planning to add in the upcoming weeks, but wanted to get group feedback first to see what categories would be the most meaningful. Most likely we'll break those down into things like: friends, family, mavens, groups...but give us your thoughts.

Thanks again!

I also miss the dashboard.  I'm not very web smart when it comes to feeds.  I *think* I could define feed, but I'm not even positive about that.  So the dashboard helped keep things neat.

I do appreciate the constant push to make the site more user friendly and appealing.

Re:New Feed and Design Feedback

It is so slow that I get up and tidy the study between click. Seriously. Yes, I have high-speed cable, and, yes, I've tried it at peak and non-peak (e.g., 3:00 a.m. Spout time) times. Any other comment from me--like missing the Dashboard--would be trivial compared to the long load time.

Cheers,

JIMBELL

Thanks for the feedback, JIMBELL!

We've made a number of performance tweeks to the system since you sent this and I'm wondering if you still find the site slow?

Also, I know a lot of our power-users have been commenting on missing the Dashboard.  We actually tried to make all of the items within the dashboard more easily accessible by adding them to the drop-down by your username. So, if you click on the arrow by your name up above, you'll find links to almost all of those features.

Does that help?...or do you still miss having all of those things on a single page?

I can help with that. If you go to your home page (click on your image), it is below the tabs on the right side of the screen.
