Spout Feature Feedback: New Front Page
Hey all! We've been working hard over here developing a new front page for your Spouting pleasure. We think it really simplifies the experience and provides an interesting live feed of Spout activity (reviews, rating, lists, etc). This page will be available tomorrow (6.6.07) by the end of the day. Let us know what you think! Cheers! Bill

Re: Spout Feature Feedback: New Front Page
This sounds really neat. It's been great watching the site grow over the last year and a half and I'm sure that it will be another excellent improvement added to the system. Love the idea of a live pulse area to the site, it makes it much easier to chat instead of following up to conversations.

Re: Spout Feature Feedback: New Front Page
Well it looks like the new front page just went up. My first impression is just that there are less things, and what's left over just has a lot bigger graphics and text.

I think it's pretty sweet, can we just get it to auto-update so I don't have to keep hitting refresh ever couple of minutes? ;)

Auto updating is a good idea. How come there are no more links to reviews on your front page? I miss that.

We're still working at tweaking that page, but also looking to use some of these same sort of feeds to populate review pages. Lot's more in the pipeline for us! Thanks for the comment!

i've found that if you click on the heading "movies" on the top of the page (not any of the subcategories that come up) you get a page with the latest reviews, latest lists, etc., just like the old front page had.

Re: Spout Feature Feedback: New Front Page
Thanks Wonga. I appreciate that.
I guess I'm disappointed there isn't a larger amount of varying site info consolidated right on the actual home page rather than several large advertisements for Spoutblog, FilmCouch and Four Eyed Monsters. Nothing against any of those pieces of content...they are all very nice but the home page is feeling like a grouping of site promotional billboards. Instead, I would mix in your self-promotional stuff with some hand picked user content. I think you need to mix things up a bit. Provide a greater amount of content overall, clearly and attractively layed out on the home page and tease people with it so they'll want to explore the site more.
Hope you take this in the spirit intended. Just wanting the site to be the best it can be.

Re: Spout Feature Feedback: New Front Page
I just joined Spout today and think the layout is awesome. VERY user friendly. I also loke your color scheme, it's easy on the eyes, not too busy. Spout I'm hooked!
