Re: Movies you would watch with your 13 year old
Well...I do have a child that is 13, and another that is 10 and another that is 7 and another that is 5. It is a challenge to find a film that is interesting and appropriate for the whole family. I confess that my 5 year old is much more grown up at 5 than her oldest sister was at that age, and that is just how it works when kids of different ages hang out together.
We have enjoyed: Second Hand Lions; The Rookie; The Incredibles; Agent Cody Banks; National Treasure; The Pacifier, Princess Diaries...
We have watched Pirates of the Caribean - which is not for the weak of stomach, or for a child under 5 - some of the characters are a bit scary . The Lord of the Rings is a favorite of the male members of the family, again alot of detailed non-normal human characters that could be frightening and a ton of battle scenes. Harry Potter - I enjoyed the first three books, then discouraged them because of the dark side that takes over in Harrys life. the movies are about the same - I have not seen the latest one (number 4?) because of the reason mentioned above.
We do not think that sheltering our kids from all the questionable stuff in the world is the best way to go, since the day that they will deal with it is coming faster than we would like to think. Sometimes a film can open a forum of discussion that teaches all of us.
How about you? Any suggestions on movies that have worked in your family?
