Favorite Disney Movie?

An easy question to start. What is your favorite Disney movie and why?

Re: Favorite Disney Movie?

You'd think this would be an easy question, wouldn't ya?

After much scientific deliberation on the subject (more like, considering what I watch the most), I think my winner is Mary Poppins.  I know, it's not animated.  This movie is a comfort for me.  I always wanted to know Mary Poppins, who is practically perfect in every way, after all.  I know all of the songs backwards and forwards.  I think jumping into sidewalk pavement pictures and tea parties on the ceiling would be lovely ways to spend the time.  And if only I could clean my house with a snap of my fingers!  Also, it's set in my favorite country away from country, England.  And I just like it.  It reminds me of childhood; it captures that innocence.

I have loads of runners up though: Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King, Finding Nemo, the Toy Story movies...

For some reason I think Aladdin might be by favorite. Inside I'm screaming Little Mermaid and Cinderella. Ok but Aladdin. It really was cool. The genie was actually funny, and the songs "A Whole New World" and "Prince Ali" are still in my head. Abu was the best side kick out of any Disney movie, yes even better than Sebastian and Gus. Plus Jasmine was so cool because she wore those billowy pants and had a tiger as a pet.

Lilo and Stitch.

One of the first movies that had a lot of adult themes.  Social Workers.  Poloroid collections of large persons.  No pretty princess.  Elvis.  Hawaii.  Voodoo Dolls.  Aliens.  The movie has it all.

I went to see it 5 months after vacationing in Hawaii, and I think that might have effect why I love this movie, but over all I completely relate to the characters, who are brilliantly developed.  And, unlike many other Disney classics, this one was an orgional concept, not based on a fairy tale...my second favorite, Lion King is for the same reason.

I really liked Lilo and Stitch also, but it seems like there were a lot of people who didn't really like it all that much. I liked it because it was in Hawaii, it was colorful, the music was good and it was original.

Hmm... that's a tough one. Some of my favorites would have to be 101 Dalmations, Aristocats, and Oliver & Company. Ah, I'm a sucker for cute animals. XD
Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorites too.

It's so hard to choose! There are so many good ones.

Re: Favorite Disney Movie?

I've gotten that response too.  I think this has to do with the fact that it wasn't what people were expecting.  It's vastly different from much of the movies we grew up on.  Though I've found if I can get those people to rewatch the movie they end up falling in love with it.

Have you seen the series cartoon.  It's equally as good.  I haven't seen the additional movies that follow...and now that Dakota Fanning is the voice of Lilo I don't like the off shoots nearly as much.

The origional and the series were/are the best.
