We don't need to discuss or debate any further, the absolute Worst Movie EVER is....

Battlefield Earth.

If there is a worse movie, then I have not seen it. I don't even think this movie needs any explaination as to why it is the Worst Movie Ever, I think everyone pretty much knows why it is. Bad script, poor storyline, horrendous acting and the make-up is absolutely laughable. I could go on and on. This movie even made me dislike Travolta, who still has not redeemed himself in my eyes.

Anyway, thought everyone would get a good laugh out of this one.

I've got to admit that Battlefield Earth really was pretty terrible.  It makes me wonder who does the greenlighting of some of the scripts that Hollywood gets.  Of wait a minute, L. Ron Hubbard wrote the script, no wonder, hmmm I smell a conspiracy.  Definetely a good canidate for the lackluster list.

Battlefield Earth is among the worst movies ever made, but have you had the displeasure of watching Robocop 3? Just when you thought this franchise (if you can call it that) could'nt get any worse, Hollywood shows everyone just how big a turd they can really produce. There are no stars in this. Atleast  Travolta, Barry Pepper and Forrest Whitaker were in Battlefield. Not that that helped any. Robocop 3 had a horrendous story, laughable dialogue, piss-poor special effects (nothing "special" about them, they sucked), the worst action scenes, and the acting didn't even measure up to what can be seen in any high school production. Nope,no redeeming factors at all. If you absolutely have to see Robocop, do yourself a favor and watch the original. Even Battlefield Earth would be more enjoyable.

Sorry, Kami, but your take on Battlefield Earth reminds me a lot of Pretty Woman: "Bad script, poor storyline, horrendous acting and the make-up is absolutely laughable. I could go on and on." If Travolta hasn't redeemed himself in your eyes (he has in mine) just imagine how I feel about Gere and Roberts...

I couldn't agree more. Maybe some day when I am rich enough to buy into scientology I will enjoy this movie more. Until then it is in the slammer in my book.

Natural Born Killers!!

At least Battlefield Earth has some (unintentional) comic relief stemming from Travolta's bizarre nose gear.  NBK is just plain bad -- like some sort of acid trip gone horribly wrong combined with a gratuitous blood bath.  Follow Nancy's lead and Just Say No.

Don't do it.  Someone convinced me to see it and it was the worst five hours of my life.  Even the camera angles are crap.  I wanted a shower after watching that film.

Re: We don't need to discuss or debate any further, the absolute Worst Movie EVER is....

Battlefield Earth is one of the worst movies ever made. It won worst movie the year it came out on the Razzie awards. Now they are saying it's the worst movie they have ever nominated. That being said, it's not all about how bad the script is and the directing, it also is about how much effort is being put into the whole project. Let's go back to the 70's when a movie titled "Caligula" was released into theaters. People went to go see it because they said that there was going to be gratuitous sex scenes throughout the movie. Like a history on Rome, but mostly a lot of sex. By the time people saw it, they found that even though it was filled with strange sex scenes it was completely disgusting. I ask, for what purpose? Other movies you can watch and find all kinds of mistakes and things that don't make sense. You can say that's stupid and ridiculous and by the time the movie is over, you can say that it was a waste of time and it was all so bad. But when I watched Caligula, not only did I see no point to these uncomfortable scenes, I saw no point for this trash to be released. When the movie was over I felt sick and the rest of the day I was depressed. I didn't feel like talking to anyone. Even in bad movies, there's something to laugh at and there is hope. In this movie, everyone hates eachother, there's no hope and then there's sex scenes and then there's some of the sickest ways people kill eachother. I've seen horror movies that have sick ways of showing peoples death but that's because they want you to be scared and disgusted. When one person kills another in Caligula, there is no point, it's just to show you how barbaric they were back then. But that they show it throughout the movie, it just gets pointless. Then they just throw in some sex scenes to keep your interest. There are people who like this movie, for those people I pray that they aren't killing people right now. This movie is the worst movie ever made. Now, if I want to feel down, all I have to do is think of this movie. It should have never been made.

"...not only did I see no point to these uncomfortable scenes, I saw no point for this trash to be released...", writes blakngold, and I agree with this criteria; it's what i use also ("Millions of dollars (etc.) spent on this!?").

I submit "Blue Velvet" as a nominee for the top spot; again, not because what they did wasn't well done (as some say), but because of what was done.

Under discussion:

Blue Velvet  (1986)
