I second that question. I thought it was a movie with real heart, and it's definitely one of Adam Sandler's most mature performances (if not the most).

In my opinion, Adam Sandler sould stick strickly to the "immature" comedy roles everyone loves seeing him in. When that's what we're used to seeing, that's what we expect. This is why "Punch Drunk Love" doesn't appeal to many Adam Sandler fans. I know that this means we're not leaving him any room to progress in his roles, but when it was such a dramatic change you have to have an extremely open mind. At least his movie "Click" was still funny, and it did have some more serious points as well. I refused to watch the entire movie of "Punch Drunk Love" because of this very fact.

IMDB voters must not mind. It's his second highest rated movie after Reign Over Me which is apparently strictly drama.

I liked it better the second time because I knew what was coming.

Well, you hit the nail on the head by saying you would need an "extremely open mind," because I would consider yours a very closed view, no offense. I consider myself at least a moderate Sandler fan. I've seen all of his movies, I think, except Spanglish. And I really liked this movie, I really did. It's out of the ordinary, sure, but sometimes change is good. And quite a few of Sandler's "immature roles that everyone loves him in" kind of suck. Little Nicky or the Waterboy anyone? In fact, throw those in Worst Movie Jail. I don't think Punch Drunk Love should face one of this group's trials and sentences, though. It may not have been what you're used to, but...PS Click was not that funny. I found it tired and recycled, though it had cute moments and possibility. I still say the best Sandler film is Happy Gilmore.

Oh no you didn't! Get one guy straightened out and another one pops up. Just the presence of Mr. Beefy alone makes Little Nicky worthwhile. Ditto Patricia Arquette. I'm guessing that the devil (played by Harvey Keitel) made you do it.

Re: Punch Drunk Love should be knocked out of the history of movies
Actually, I didn't horribly mind Harvey. I just didn't laugh at the movie, and Sandler playing creepy was not as funny. You don't have to throw it in jail, I guess, but I say Punch Drunk Love is better and Gilmore is the best. Though there are lots of other ones I like too that are good for a laugh.
