Just about every French action movie has him as a producer or presenter. But his directorial efforts are usually entertaining. Of course, I'm probably just holding him to a high standard becuase of The Professional, Fifth Element, and he vastly underrated Messenger: Story of Joan of Arc.Re:Re:Top Family-Friendly/Childrens Movies of '07http://www.spout.com/groups/I_Love_Childrens_Movies/Re_Re_Top_Family_Friendly_Childrens_Movies_of_07/372/23667/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 09 Jan 2008 16:00:54 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:23667indieabby883Besson is someone who has kind of a strange resume to me. "The Professional" is one of my favorite movies, but then he does stuff like this, "Angel-A" which I have yet to see, but have heard varied reviews of, and wrote "The Transporter" and its sequel, and "Bandidas." The guy is just darned prolific, I guess.Re:Top Family-Friendly/Childrens Movies of '07http://www.spout.com/groups/I_Love_Childrens_Movies/Re_Top_Family_Friendly_Childrens_Movies_of_07/372/23653/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 09 Jan 2008 07:37:09 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:23653TheWorkingDead3
I feel a little unqualified to judge, because I've seen so few of the family films out there. I really do want to see both Enchanted and Stardust, and both are on my list. I enjoyed Ratatouille more on home video, but I'm willing to place the blame on myself for that one. For some reason I was not ecstatic about it in theatres(although I did enjoy it completely). I maybe expected too much, since Iron Giant and Incredibles are absolutely perfect, in my eyes. Harry Potter was fun, of course, although I haven't been stunned by those films since number 3.

Here's a couple of my picks, that werent already on your list.

The Bridge to Terabithia was a pleasant surprise. Not having read the book I was expecting a straight Narnia ripoff, a quick cash-in on the current family-fantasy trend. The urge to cash-in may have motivated the film, but it blindsided me enough that I really enjoyed myself.

I want to say I loved Arthur and the Invisibles, because I'm a big Luc Besson fan, but I haven't seen it all the way through and it looks like such a calculated attempt at throwing in as many fantasy and 'hipster' jokery that I'm not in a huge hurry to finish the film.
Top Family-Friendly/Childrens Movies of '07http://www.spout.com/groups/I_Love_Childrens_Movies/Top_Family_Friendly_Childrens_Movies_of_07/372/23649/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 09 Jan 2008 05:09:21 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:23649indieabby883Watching the Critics' Choice Awards last night might not have been such a good idea (one can only take so much D.L. Hugley before wanting to hurl heavy objects at the screen), but the awards category of "Best Family Film" gave me a thought: with all these top-ten lists coming out, perhaps we ought to make one that is specific to this group. So, what are your favorite family-friendly films of 2007? My favorites are:

Enchanted (the Critics' Choice Award winner)

Ratatouille

Stardust (I know, it's stretching it a little, but I'd say it's family friendly. Had it been around during my elementary/ middle school years, I'd have watched it)

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
