I'm still not sure how to feel. I liked the idea of it, and yes, some parts were pretty funny, especially the part you mention regarding Huey Lewis and the News. But the violence of it really did disturb me. I guess I don't mind when it's living-on-undead killing, but if some living creature is killing another living creature, especially if it's just for no good reason, like in the film, it can be hard for me to watch. The ending, however, is a great kicker. I like to think that it was all in his head, simply because I love stuff like that. But the fact that the ending is so ambiguous makes it even better.Re: How About your Favorite FUNNY-Scary Movieshttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_How_About_your_Favorite_FUNNY_Scary_Movies/222/13052/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 04 Jul 2007 12:52:40 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:13052GradysGhost77

marincat:

I'm not sure this is even in the scary department, but one of the funniest movies I have ever seen is Murder By Death. I generally don't like comedy...hard to make me laugh at a movie, but this one was over the top with humor. So much so that the scary part was essentially not there.

Murder By Death is one of my all-time favorites. It is over the top and hilarious. "Use your goddamn pronouns!!!" You should check out my blog where I went off on the metafictional influences in it.

To Risselada, who laughed at American Psycho: How can you NOT laugh at a guy when he goes off praising, with condescending intelligence, the music of Huey Lewis and the News. And some of Norman Bates's lines, like when he's in his bedroom with the two hookers, and they're in the buff, and he tells the one to bend over so her butt's in the air. Then he tells the other one, "Don't just look at it. Eat it." But American Psycho is just brilliant. My wife and I and my best friend get into arguments over it all the time because we each interpret the ending differently.
Re: How About your Favorite FUNNY-Scary Movieshttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_How_About_your_Favorite_FUNNY_Scary_Movies/222/13036/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 04 Jul 2007 04:27:11 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:13036divinemsjunebug77I LOVED Murder by Death. That is just one of the cutest, funniest movies. I really need to watch that again it's been years since I've seen it.Re: How About your Favorite FUNNY-Scary Movieshttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_How_About_your_Favorite_FUNNY_Scary_Movies/222/13032/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 04 Jul 2007 02:19:52 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:13032marincat77I'm not sure this is even in the scary department, but one of the funniest movies I have ever seen is Murder By Death. I generally don't like comedy...hard to make me laugh at a movie, but this one was over the top with humor. So much so that the scary part was essentially not there.Re: How About your Favorite FUNNY-Scary Movieshttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_How_About_your_Favorite_FUNNY_Scary_Movies/222/12887/1/ShowPost.aspxMon, 02 Jul 2007 23:26:11 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:12887joem18b77

lukasblu:

Blockbuster recent-arrivals shelves;i seem to be doing that too lately:especially ,because there has been more requests in my household for horror movies;

the question is for joem18b ,did you finally found a movie that you liked and would be willing to recommend; i prefer newer releases/no foreign

I've been bottom feeding but nothing I'd recommend.

I have high hopes for Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon. The whole process Bruce describes about how they actually made "Evil Dead" is great. I loved reading about all the stuff they had to invent so they could keep production costs down. "Army of Darkness" is definitely on my list for favorite horror-comedies. It can bring me out of the lowest of moods, simply by watching the special effects during that final battle scene. I love that you can tell some of the skeleton warriors are poorly-disguised stuntmen. That slays me.

Others:

"Shaun of the Dead" still ranks my favorite, although it's probably been mentioned in just about every post so far!
