"Friday The 13th" had to 'build up' to IT's reputation! It was not until 'Part III' that we were introduced to the 'hockey-mask wearing' Jason that we all love! ...

I think they made Evil Dead II with the thought that no one really watched the first Evil Dead movie because it was so low budget - since they kind of did a recap of the first movie at the beginning of Evil Dead II (although the recap really wasn't completely like the first movie). Anyway, I have to say that I LOVE ARMY of DARKNESS, I just think it's so funny. Maybe it's just my campy sense of humor (I will admit that I even bought a few of the little skeleton figurines and put them on my shelf). The first Evil Dead was very creepy even with the cheesey makeup, I do enjoy the first one better than the second one, but the third one is my favorite.

I totally agree with The Howling and Halloween - it was just almost like Halloween II was still part of the first movie since it was just a continuation, but the first one there is no comparison.

Now I loved both Friday the 13th 1 and 2 - the rest of them were just fun slasher movies and that's about it, nothing really outstanding (in my opinion) of course I still enjoy watching them.

I also Really liked the first Leprechaun movie too. All of those movies are just hilarious.

Although I DID like "Halloween II" alot! It picked up EXACTLY where the first one left off and tells of how 'Micheal' follows 'Laurie' aka Jamie Lee Curtis, to the Hospital where, He decides to kill everybody else in the Hospital first (!!!) ... and save His 'niece' for last! THIS movie was insane! I LOVED IT!

Anyway, to Sir Risselada, it is just my preference, but I do enjoy Evil Dead II better than Evil Dead I. The part with the bobbing lamp was classic and I don't think I have ever been able to look at stuffed dear craniums the same after watching that movie. Every time I see one I think, "Crap. It saw me. Now it's going to laugh at me!" And then I curl into a ball and cry a lot... Okay. I exaggerated. I only cry a little. ;D

That's so simialr to what I was feeling too! My husband and I had our Netflix Queue packed full of cult classics, horror films, cheesy teen girl movies, slasher films, Korean thrillers, documentaries.... RANDOM stuff! And that's what we both LOVE. Blood, guts and teen angst!

We started making our friends "contacts" on the site and they were looking at our rented movies, and sending us messages like, "How can you watch that stuff! It's so gross!" or "I hated that movie, it was too 'thinky' why did you like it so much?" so I started filtering our netflix Queue so OTHERS weren't offended my our tastes.

I realized that we started adding movies and watching movies that we really didn't care about, so that everybody else wasn't creeped out!

Then we switched to Blockbuster online, and I decided NOT to add anyone to our "contacts" list... and just watch what we want to watch.

So, just like this past weekend, we watched great movies like the I Drink Your Blood and the original version of Pulse. And it was perfect. It IS perfect :-).

I just saw Evil Dead II, and my memory isn't that great, but I think I may like the first one better. Although from what I've generally seen most people prefer the second one. What do you all think?

You know, when I lived in Kansas City, MO, I really tried to fit in and conform to the way everyone was around me, I used to be in a punk band in KC and just always laughed and had fun, then after I got married I thought I should start acting like a happy homemaker - ugh - and became so unhappy, hardly ever laughed any more, etc. Anyway, moving out here to Seattle really helped, then when my ex and I decided to separate it helped even more. It's just great finally being who I want to be, laughing again, having fun with life and not letting anyone make me feel inferior for liking the things I like...it's like on my Netflix Queue, my friends that I share my list with started giving me a lot of grief about all the horror movies I had on there. So, I started deleting a lot of them so they wouldn't think I was too strange. Then all of a sudden I thought I was Doing it again, I was trying to conform to what others wanted me to be. Anyway, really didn't mean to get off on that tangent but it's a bit of a sore subject for me...lol. So I am going to watch as many horror films as I want and if I want to watch Disney films along with it, so be it. I am proud to let my Freak Flag Fly...Hee hee.

Yeah. I am thought of as a weirdo McStrangeGirl because I like horror movies. And then on top of that I like Power Rangers (that's right! I said it!) so people are even more weirded out that I jump from one extreme to the other. But I think I'm a cool kind of horror nerd so yeah. I'm good with it, too. My mom also thinks I'm weird and my horror liking siblings are too young to go to R movies so I have to go by myself, also, ha-ha. Well, have a day!

Froggie, I love all of those scenes too, just so funny. I thought the part of the head and spinal chord guy was really funny. I have to say it's one of my favorites.

You know it's so cool to see other women who like scary movies, NONE of my friends like horror movies so I either have to go by myself or wait until they come out on DVD. My ex-husband would watch movies with me, but he really didn't like them (even though he pretended to...hee hee). Most of the men I have dated out here in Seattle don't like scary movies either. It's very irritating, I know that's not a reason to dump a guy, but I really would like to find someone where we can like to watch MOST of the same movies (not all) but at least most. Anyway, I guess I'm just weird. hee hee. But that's okay I have embraced my weirdness and love it now. lol.

I haven't seen Dead and Breakfast, but the previews seem interesting. I love the Return of the Living Dead. It's hilarious and weird and all that good stuff. The subsequent Return movies were all over the place in weirdness. Part II is somewhat humorous with the comment that is something to the effect of, "This feels like de javu or something," said by the the mid-twenties-early-thirties-guy-playing-a-nineteen-year-old who was in the previous film. That one was also funny near the end because of the scene with said character and his girlfriend wherein guy alludes to girl that if she really loves him, she will let him eat her noggin. Then CRUNCH! Dinna time. Then there was the third one with the girl who would shove various sharp objects through her skin in order to quell the "hunger" she felt. I thought that was kind of cool. Creepy, but cool. That one, though, was a not so funny, though the guy who was basically a spinal cord and a head made me giggle. I saw that there was a newer one out. I'd like to see that just so I could say I saw it.

All time favorite line from the Return movies: "Get that goddamn screwdriver outta my head!"

I saw Dead and Breakfast and it was pretty funny at times, but I grew weary of it after awhile. Those songs were pretty lame in my opinion.

I did enjoy Return of the Living Dead though although I don't think I saw past number 2. My brother and I were big fans.

I'm going to HAVE to put Chopper Chicks of Zombietown on my Netflix Cue - I bet that wasn't too much of a stretch for Joan Jett to play a tough biker chick. I never knew she acted in anything.

I always thought it would be so much fun to play a zombie in a movie (especially the ones that move really slow and lose body parts).

Has anyone seen Dead and Breakfast, I think it is so cool and funny. It has line dancing zombies, what more could you ask for? I just put Return of the Living Dead in tonight, I forgot how funny this movie is and it has a great soundtrack. This is great to watch while I am doing some cleaning.

"Chopper Chicks In Zombietown" (I can not BELIEVE that SPOUT actually had this one!) ... This movie stars Joan Jet (!) as the 'bull-dyke' leader of an all girl 'Motorcycle Gang' that invades a small town just as The Zombies (which are several miles away! ... AND they don't move too fast!) are awakened! There is all kind of fun mayhem between the "Chopper Chicks" and the townsfolk while The Zombies are S L O W L Y making thier way towards town...... I will not give away the ending!

That and "The Return Of The Living Dead" series...

Yeah but that was definitely the most memorable part of Dawn of the Dead for me. I've actually forgotten almost all of the specific scenes of it except for that very moment.

I believe there is a film coming out soon called "My Pet Zombie" or something of that sort. Some comedy about a kid who has a pet zombie. hmm? Sounds endearing! I'd like one myself.

I've always wondered the origin of the brain-hungry zombie. The definitive reference for me was the Simpsons and the Treehouse of Horrors zombie invasion where the horde passes on Homer because of his lack of brains. Where does this originate? I suppose it makes sense if the zombies are somehow suffering from a lack of grey matter and crave a refill.

Mr. Quint. You are a few years off with who 'invented' the"'Zombie Comedy"... Woudn't the original "Dawn Of The Dead" be the first? In fact, that is one of the FEW things that I did NOT like about this movie! There was just TOO MUCH comedy!

Well if you think about it zombies are essentially just disheveled looking people with no higher intellect, discernment, or self-control. I think all of those things often make comedic characters.

This movie Black Sheep sounds pretty funny, but has the zombie comedy been played out already? Shaun of the Dead was a hoot and Tokyo Zombie and Stacy certainly prove that Japan gets the Joke. Peter Jackson may be the inventor of the genre. Or was it Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead? What is the comedic appeal of zombies?
