It was surprisingly captivating in the sense that I just HAD to see how it was going to end.

I imagine that any one of the Lord of the Rings trilogy films would have looked like this if Peter Jackson had: made the film for 1/8 of what he did; completely disavowed of the source material and just randomly added characters that he thought were cool; chose all of his favorite actors (even though they were wrong for the parts).

The cast was an eclectic mix of people that could have worked if they were given more to work with (i.e. the dialogue which was incredibly hilarious, unintentionally, and made parts of the film rather enjoyable and others just unbearable).

Being that I had played the computer game the film was based on I think I am a little more biased against the movie because of its complete lack of connection with it. Aside from the main character, the army of monsters called Krug and the name of the kingdom, there really wasn't too much else that was taken from the game.

I never played Bloodrayne the game, did the same happen with that film?

What about the others?
Re:Uwe Bollhttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_Uwe_Boll/222/27361/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 16 Apr 2008 17:31:28 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:27361FroggyBaBe1587616
Hmmm...I distinctly remember posting something about Uwe Boll...and now you guys are arguing about "blanket statements." See, this is why I rarely talk in on this website anymore. Because of stupid shit like this. How old are you guys? I'm gonna guess not a day over 12 because you argue like my siblings do over a Monopoly game. Albeit you do use richer and prettier language to get your "points" across, but you're still a bunch of fucking 7th graders. Yay for growing up.
Re:Uwe Bollhttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_Uwe_Boll/222/27336/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 16 Apr 2008 00:15:27 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:27336Dr_Gor16

TheWorkingDead:

mercurial:

Obviously As Good As It Gets is a pile of shit to some portion of the population compared to Alone In The Dark. I think he's an idiot, personally, and not really worth the time of day, so I choose to skip over his movies. "In the Name of the King" was a little tempting, since it looks like such a grade-a piece of flymeat that's just asking to be flayed ala Mystery Science Theater, but until that day comes, I'm just going to sit back and watch the fireworks, thanks.Re:Uwe Bollhttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Re_Uwe_Boll/222/27246/1/ShowPost.aspxSat, 12 Apr 2008 17:29:28 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:27246TheWorkingDead16

mercurial:

FroggyBaBe15876:

Hearing all that was a big wakeup call for me about the real Hollywood and the practices that go on and so on. Anyways, I wanted to talk to her about Bloodrayne and when I barely finished speaking the word she rolled her eyes and made a look of disgust on her face that pretty much explained everything. She briefly mentioned fighting with Boll and his people over the script and how most of it was taken out of her hands because he had final approval and by the end she decided to not take her name off the film because she was getting a decent paycheck out of it.

Hearing all that was a big wakeup call for me about the real Hollywood and the practices that go on and so on. It also shed some light on why his films seem so singular: because he's a Nazi with every aspect of production of the them.
Uwe Bollhttp://www.spout.com/groups/HORROR_MOVIES_101/Uwe_Boll/222/27055/1/ShowPost.aspxMon, 07 Apr 2008 23:37:43 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:27055FroggyBaBe1587616
I was just reading on the SpoutBlog (here's the link to the article) about director Uwe Boll. If you haven't heard of him, he's the guy who directed such gems as House of the Dead and Bloodrayne. Apparently, there is a petition out to stop Boll from making any more movies. But, Boll said that it would take a million signatures to get him to stop filmmaking. The petition now has about 60,000 blog signatures.

Okay. The SpoutBlog makes a good point that if you aren't going to see the movies anyway, why should you bother saying they suck in the first place? Well, here's a good reason: if you've seen House of the Dead, you know that it sucks. Really. Really. Hard. It sucks SO much, that when I, personally, heard that Boll directed Bloodrayne, I crossed it off my "to see" list. He also directed Alone in the Dark which, wasn't necessarily horrible, but it weren't good neither. All the movies he makes, by the way, are usually based on video games, in case you didn't catch that.

I have a friend who absolutely HATES Uwe Boll. I'm not a hating kind of person. But, I must say, he does suck. I like the picture of him giving the finger, though. That earned him a couple points in my book. Anyway, what do yous all think? Should Boll stop directing? Or should everyone stop whining and bitching and just go see Postal? And Far Cry? And Bloodrayne 3?
