Penelope Cruz is so much more feminine and sensual than she's been before, and the film looks gorgeous: the colors are so vibrant and the compositions so out-there. As to the plot, it has a nice mix of the usual Almodovar plot twists and weird elements with a calmer pace than usual, and more room for some genuine feeling.
