I voted for Oldman because he gets the chance to be sexy and creepy, which seems crucial to the Dracula myth. (I don't know for sure because I haven't read the novel.)

Oldman is hideous way more often than sexy, and for me, that reminds me that the beautiful self he shows to Mina is a lie, a thin veneer -- the guy is a loathful monster, for Pete's sake!

My favorite lines from Bram Stoker's Dracula:

DRACULA: The Order of the Dracul, the Dragon. An ancient society, pledging my forefathers to defend the church against all enemies of Christ. Their relationship was not entirely... successful.

HARKER: Oh, (chuckles) I see.

DRACULA: "It is no laughing matter!" ...

And then poor Keanu, not knowing what to do, stands stiffly and says, "I have offended you with my ignorance, Count. Forgive me."
Re:Which of these movie Draculas from movies based on the original novel is your favorite?http://www.spout.com/groups/Movie_Polls/Re_Which_of_these_movie_Draculas_from_movies_based/657/38239/1/ShowPost.aspxThu, 11 Dec 2008 16:37:16 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:38239Risselada22

Dr_Gor:

God I LOVED that movie! George Hamilton was the most tanned Dracula in the history of motion pictures!

                                                                < GOR >

He is probably the darkest skinned white man alive, but what about Blacula?
Re:Which of these movie Draculas from movies based on the original novel is your favorite?http://www.spout.com/groups/Movie_Polls/Re_Which_of_these_movie_Draculas_from_movies_based/657/38182/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 10 Dec 2008 17:58:52 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:38182QFLW22
Well...I don't go for horror movies and for a long time wouldn't entertain even the thought of any vampire movie 'cos they creeped me out too much. Yet I'm sorta proud to say I've seen three of these--the Christopher Lee, Frank Langella and Gary Oldman versions. My fave couldn't be other than Gary Oldman. I agree that he's one of the most underrated/under-appreciated actors. What a turn! How regal and discomfitingly charming his Count Dracula, displaying animal instincts as well as his human side. The moment in which he hungrily licks the bloodied razor...whew...he was so much more powerful a presence than anyone else in the film. Which is as it should be, really.

Re:Which of these movie Draculas from movies based on the original novel is your favorite?http://www.spout.com/groups/Movie_Polls/Re_Which_of_these_movie_Draculas_from_movies_based/657/38168/1/ShowPost.aspxWed, 10 Dec 2008 08:15:29 GMTcdd0f780-13db-4d93-b0f4-ada579d02ae7:38168Dr_Gor22

Dr_Gor:

wonga:

Bela Lugosi of course (i'm his only vote so far)! by the way, where's George Hamilton?
