First Place goes to Benthams_head for making me wish I was at Max Rebo: Black and White Night, which is inspired by Roy Orbison: Black & White Night (1987)

"A special that runs during every pledge drive on “PBS Tatooine”. It features the legendary Rebo; along with Droopy McCool, Sny Snoodles and a cavalcade of stars from across the galaxy, playing some of his greatest hits for an audience of aging Hutts. Sadly, less than a year after filming this concert, Rebo would die of gluttony; making this show all the more poignant and memorable. A DVD of the performance can be obtained at the 'Han Solo in carbonite' donation level."

(Notes from here on by SkyPilot) Photo from the broadcast: Rebo is circled by scat-singing Salacious Crumb, chidinkalutist Droopy McCool, and vocalist Sny Snoodles. Note Ziro the Hutt's tail to far right. This picture was snapped as Ziro, who rushed the stage to touch Rebo, is dragged away by Gamorrean security guards.

Rebo's crowd-pleasing set included incendiary covers of "Coruscant Prison Blues," "Womp Rat out of Hell," "Alderaan Angel," "I Used the Force on You," and "Mack the Lightsaber." The grand finale is a tear-jerking rendition of "Jizz is Here to Stay," which hit number #1 upon broadcast, and then once again one year later, when news hit of Rebo's death.

Second Place goes to karl42 for his reality show centered on the adventures of Boba Fett, bounty hunter.

"For some reason I have this insane image of this poor slob trussed up and hogtied in the back of Boba Fett's ship Slave I, just sobbing and looking all fearful.

While flying the ship, getting his quarry to the man who hired him, Boba asks over his shoulder:

'Wha'dja keep running for, brah?'

That's right: Dog the Bounty Hunter, a la Boba Fett."

SkyPilot: I wouldn't miss the episode where he bags the rancor for Jabba the Hutt, or the Season 1 cliffhanger where Fett tumbles into the Sarlaac pit. But as Fett fans know, in the first episode of Season 2: Fett rides again!

I had a few thoughts run through my head...

1. "Hello, and welcome to the New Yankee Workshop. I'm Norm Abrams, and today I thought we'd spend some time today building this lovely Death Star in the workshop. Now, the original was destroyed, but we still have the blueprints, so we're going to do the best we can to reconstruct it here today. But first, let's hear a little bit about shop safety..."

2. "Good morning friends, today on The Joy of Painting, I thought we'd do a happy little night swamp scene on Dagobah. As they scroll the paint colors on the bottom of the screen, let's go over what we have up here..."

3. "Hi folks, this is Rick Steves. Now Coruscant may seem like a constantly bustling city-planet, but just beneath the surface is a world of culture and plenty of hidden spots that we'll visit on this episode of Rick Steves Travels the Universe."

For some reason I have this insane image of this poor slob trussed up and hogtied in the back of Boba Fett's ship Slave I, just sobbing and looking all fearful.

While flying the ship, getting his quarry to the man who hired him, Boba asks over his shoulder:

"Wha'dja keep running for, brah?"

That's right: Dog the Bounty Hunter, ala Boba Fett.

Fade in to desert sunrise. The binary suns burn over the desolate dunes of Tatooine. Plucked 12-string, banjo, and violin music plays, with occasional piano chords thrown in to make it sound all New-Agey.

In foreground, a still portrait of about a dozen men, women and children of varying ages fades in. At first, they're all wearing modern earth clothes, but the picture quickly morphs to them wearing robes and loosely-fitting tunics with leggings.

VO (Narrator) : Three families are about to go back in time...and to a galaxy far, far away.

Cut to a man and 12-year old boy sweating over repairing a moisture vaporator. Quick wipe (bottom to top) to small girl holding an empty glass over her open mouth as the last drops of water fall onto her toungue.

VO (Father): It's just tough, watching your kids go thirsty every night. I...(pause)...I sure didn't think it'd be like this.

Quick wipe (circle, center to edge) to show a woman bartering in a marketplace with a flying, bug-like creature. She gives him some coins and stuffs some root vegtables into a basket.

VO (Mother): How anyone can even grow a crop in this god-forsaken land is beyond me. But we'll make do. (Laughs) Hoo-boy, if my friends in Louisville could see me now!

Quick wipe (left to right) to young couple in garage, cleaning and repairing droids.

VO (Man): So we spent all our savings on these two droids for the harvest, once Peggy's brother got drafted into the Empire. Hope taxes don't go up -- that mortgage we got with the jawas has really leveraged our farm to the hilt!

VO (Narrator) : Fictionalized...

Silent footage of Father and Son pulling farm animals from Sarlaac tentacles.

VO (Narrator) : Mythologized...

Silent footage of jawas taking back clean droids from young couple.

VO (Narrator) : Often romanticized...

Silent footage of Mother cleaning up after dinner and turning down the lampglobe on her way into the living area

Cut to exterior shot of igloo style home at dusk, with perimiter lights blinking and Father and Son retreating inside for the night. (Slowly descending crane shot).

VO (Narrator) : Now, see what life was REALLY like in the outlying systems.

Since no one has done it yet, I couldn't resist offering up an exerpt from a Charlie Rose interview with Yoda:

CHARLIE ROSE: Welcome to the broadcast. Tonight...a searing indictment on the rise of imperial hegemony and the complacency of the galactic Senate. A full hour with Jedi Master Yoda and his new book, "Begun These Clone Wars Have". Master Yoda, welcome back to the program.

YODA: To see you, great as always, Charlie.

CHARLIE ROSE: Now, let's get right to the point, is the Galactic Republic facing a constitutional crisis?

YODA: .No doubt there is of that.

CHARLIE ROSE: Now you...and let's be frank about this, you contend...in your book....that the recent concentration of power in the Imperial branch, coupled with a stunning surge in military spending, has signaled quote a "secession of authority so gross that it threatens to tear asunder the delicate power balance undergirding inter-galactic governance"... a pretty bold claim.

YODA: Given in to fear, the Senate has... and empty rhetoric.

CHARLIE ROSE: Now what do you mean by that?

YODA: A dangerous organization, the Separatist Confederacy is, let no doubt there be about that. However, moral authority in the galaxy we have ceded. Diplomatic relations with those who may not hold our views, we have been unwilling to undertake.

CHARLIE ROSE: But, and here's the main counter-argument....did you yourself not dispense two of your own Jedi to solve a trade dispute at the outset of this conflict? And did that not end badly?

YODA: The full threat we did not understand at the time. A more transparent process required of us there was.

CHARLIE ROSE: More transparent?

YODA: Our perception across the galaxy, we must be sensitive to.

CHARLIE ROSE: As Jedi?

YODA: As Jedi, yes, but also as defenders of the galatic order.

CHARLIE ROSE: So, what do you consider yourself? A pragmatist? An ethical realist?

YODA: From no one school of thought, do I come from.

Take your pick of the two options:

Option 1: Sesame Street as in the Star Wars universe....

In between what happened during The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, The Force strikes a balance in the universe which causes the competing sides to unite to benefit the education of all children in the known universe. Emperor Palpatine is held in stasis while the rest of our heroes must perform on a weekly children’s program on public television. The cast is set accordingly:

The role of “Maria” is played by Princess Leia, “Luis” is played by Luke Skywalker. Han Solo sheds his usual garb and must don a yellow, feathery costume (he refused to wear the bird head) and makes Chewbacca play a “make believe” sidekick he refers to as “Mr. Snuffleupagus”. Lando Calrissian takes the role of “Gordon” and Obiwan Kenobi comes back in ethereal form to portray “Mr. Hooper”. R2D2 and C3PO are cast as “Bert” and “Ernie” respectively, and Jabba the Hutt plays loveable, slimy, old “Grover”. Darth Vader portrays “Oscar the Grouch”, but will only come on set when referred to as “Lord Oscar”. Susan and Bob mysteriously missing from the crew, as they had annoyed Darth Vader during the rehearsals and "mysteriously" succumbed to unknown illness.

The series opener begins with Admiral Ackbar showing up on Sesame Street and not being able to count to 12. A singing number ensues (led by Sy Snootles) and various Ewoks.

Doh! I really need to learn to read before I post.... Just noticed that Dr_Goh had this idea posted first.... I really need to get that blonde out of my hair ;-)

Option 2: Sesame Street recreates Star Wars:

In an attempt to hook younger children to his money making franchise while serving our a public service requirement for making the “prequels”, George Lucas agrees to give PBS the rights to use the Star Wars characters for an up-coming Sesame Street episode. Return of the Jedi is recast with our friendly band of lovable muppets accordingly:

Elmo plays Luke Skywalker

Zoe plays Princess Leia

Big Bird plays Han Solo

Mr. Snuffleupagus plays Chewbacca

Ernie puts on a white cardboard box and plays R2D2.

Bert puts on a yellow costume to play C3PO

Oscar, of course, plays Darth Vader.

Cookie Monster plays Jabba the Hutt

Telly plays Lando Calrissian

Kermit the Frog does a cameo as Yoda

Grover plays Obiwan Kenobi

Baby Bear plays Wicket

The Count plays Boba Fett

Ian McDiarmid guest stars as The Emperor, but plays the role in a friendly manner.

The plot is adjusted for a more pre-school friendly audience. Elmo, Zoe and gang rescue Big Bird by teaching Cookie Monster to spell COOKIE and reward him with cookies. While he is busy eating his reward, the gang escape to fight on Endor. Elmo battles Oscar by making him use his manners, while the Emperor tells them that not using your manners leads you to the dark side. Oscar discovers that he can’t get back to his beloved garbage can without saying please, so he thanks the Emperor for his time and asks nicely to leave. Out of nowhere, Natalie Portman shows up for the singing finale.

Take this crap they call Clone Wars and insert the following..........

1. Place math problems on all the space ships.

2. Place the answers to those math problems on random endangered creatures.

3. Replace Ziro with a bi-sexual purple dinosaur that can speak spanish.

4. Replace popular theme music with a sing-along with Hannah Montana.

5, Have a read and spell with Jabba's son stinky .

6. Cut to President Bush looking for weapons of mass destruction on Tatooine.

7. Show a Pro Life Yoda Handing out condoms with a side of good advice.

8. One out of every ten pod racers are electric and sponsored by Obama.

9. The program would also encourage making friends of different color.

10. If you watch this educational show online and are between the ages of 8-14 you will be entered to win a free copy of Pass the Ammo or Highway to Hell. ( While supplies last).

This might be a little 'old-school' for some of you guys but what about a "Sesame Street" version of "Episode IV: A New Hope" ...

'Bob' is Luke Skywalker, 'Maria' is Princess Leia, 'Gordon' is Han Solo, Cookie Monster is Chewbaca, Bert and Ernie are C3PO and R2D2 (in that order), Snuffalupagus is Jabba The Hut, The Count is The Emporer and Oscar The Grouch is Darth Vader, etc...

The republic has been reinstalled and the evil empire ousted, but the republic is far from a perfect union with liberties for everyone. With their adventuring careers over, many familiar faces seek to create change in new ways.

I want to see the Frontline investigation into the Jedi cult:

"This strange religious faction which abduct infants, indoctrinates them with unusual beliefs, endangers them with bizzarre and life threatening tests involving deadly weapons and halucinatory experiences. Once fully indoctrinated, the members are turned loose to enforce their own brand of justice solely at the direction of the cult leaders, called the Jedi Council. Although the Jedi Coucil has infiltrated the highest levels of government, this group answers to no one but themselves. We will talk to former children raised by the Jedi who say they were rejected before becoming full members or "Jedi Knights." We will also look into allegations that the Jedi hunt down and attempt to kill members of a breakaway sect known as the Sith.
