I don't mind watching a goofball flick as long as the filmmakers know that it's suppose to be bad. If a film is really bad, but takes itself seriously, it's harder to get that b-movie thrill from it. When push comes to shove, I still prefer watching great films, but there are times where I like to put aside all of the seriousness and enjoy the comedic aspect of poor acting, lighting, writing and directing.

If you're looking for the kind of all crappy films, I can highly recommend Manos, the Hands of Fate (1966). I can say confidently it is the worst film I've ever seen, and after research it seems most anyone who has seen it concurs with me. Its almost to the point where its not laughably bad, as illustrated by MST3k's lack of commentary during their viewing.

They gather at someone's house, watch "Plan 9 from Outer Space," then proceed to watch a handful of other bad movies (chosen by each of the guests) to see if they can find a movie that's worse than "Plan 9." The time that I went, we watched "Party Monster," "Hercules in New York" and "Troll 2." "Troll 2" was by far my favorite (you can't beat a quote like "You can't piss on hospitality!"), but "Hercules" was pretty amazing, too.

Also, I've discovered I have a guilty love for Jean Claude Van Damme movies. I rented "Double Impact" a while back with the boyfriend. One word: awesome.

I know the feeling of going to see a movie that is supposedly good, only to spend $8 on it and have it suck. Thats not fun. But does anyone else occasionally hit the second-run theatre for a flick that is guaranteed to be laughably awful? The kind where parts that are clearly not mean to be funny are the most hilarious part of the movie? I know I've done it more than once. Heck, I even own 'The Fast and the Furious', and paid to see 'Stick It' in the theatre. You can't top the terrible one-liners in either, in my opinion. It makes for some great post-movie conversation and memorable and oft-quoted lines among friends. Anyone else have a closet fascination with the terribly awful?

um, yes. One of the worst movies I own is called Surf Ninjas, I watched it constantly when I was younger and it's just awful. I haven't watched it recently, but I would be up for a viewing of it again soon. Maybe I will torture Spout staff with it:)

Holy crap Surf Ninjas is hilariously bad. And it has Martial Arts, that's a win win in my book! (That's my shameless self-promotion for my MA group!)

I have to be in the mood to watch a truly bad movie, but these kinds of movies are always more bareable when they know they suck and don't take themselves seriously, the use of comic relief is always helpful. Surf Ninjas did a great job of this, which really made the movie quite enjoyable.

It showed great restraint on the part of the producers that Johnny 5 only hung out with grownups. if they'd done Short Circuit 3, im sure thered have been a kid involved somehow.

I may be dumber than most, but i didn't realize until watching part of it on tv as a grownup that fisher stevens was supposed to be some kind of indian or pakistani. I guess i just thought he was from the same place as balki bartokamous, some kind of Wacky-accent-istan.

However, I own a few clunkers for their sentimental value, which I occasionally pull out. They had to have cost $5 or less because I don't believe in paying more for some of these flicks. The one that pops immediately to mind is Short Circuit. That is NOT a good movie, in just about any way you can define it, but I have some sort of ridiculous nostalgia for "Your mama was a snowblower!" And, by default, it's sort of an 80s classic; they made at least one sequel.

Why secretly love bad movies? Openly love them! Vin Diesel is like gravity after all; you're just drawn to him. I haven't seen the third one, but 2 Fast 2 Furious is a treat too. Paul Walker and Tyrese are almost as not-gay-at-all cool as Paul & Vin were. The reunion for a fourth next summer is grand news indeed. Paul Walker was a cult hero amongst my friends at the time. Joy Ride is another great one from that period. CAAAANNDYYYCAAAAYYYNE never got old. I was worried about Leelee Sobieski for a couple years there before she started reappearing in awesome crap movies again. If I could have found it I'd have linked her batshit crazy 9/11 poem she read on Tonight Show. I don't really want to lump Running Scared here; that's actually a pretty unique and neat action flick. But Mr Walkers filmography is it's own "Who loves bad movies?" list.

I guess it's just a bad strain of movie dorkdom. Average is worse than awful; awful is (sometimes) fun, and some people's trash is just about always someone else's treasure. Im surprised at some of the stuff that has ended up on the myriad bad movie lists.
