Yeah, I was only three when my grandmother on my father's side gave me a rusty metal Tonka toy truck she found on the side of the road. She got my brother a brand new bike. Well, she did wrap my gift but maybe she was hoping I would cut myself on it and have to go to the hospital. She thought this was all funny and cackled at it. My mother freaked and instantly grabbed it from me. I guess this is why we only got underwear and socks from her after that. It might have been why Tonka stopped the metal toys and switched to plastic. The weird thing is that my grandmother lived next door to me and you would have thought that would have made us closer. I know this all sounds like bull but this woman actually enjoyed people losing on game shows and drove my grandfather to move into a nursing home just to get away from her. Maybe 10 people showed up at her funeral and I think it would be difficult to find a picture of her smiling. Then, again, she did make a mean dressing.

When I was in third grade, I was having a really hard time making friends and wasn't feeling very good about my place in the world. Every year, for each students birthday the whole class would make you a card. So you would end up with like 25 cards all hand drawn and painted by the class. Well, I got 25 white pieces of paper with scribble on them and the occaisional dead looking smiley face or phrase like "i dont lik you viry much. hapy birtday." But the card that took the cake was from a grubby kid that no one liked. He collected pocket lint and dust from the corners fo the class room and stuffed the card full of the stuff. When I opened it, it dumped out everywhere and I started to cry. The class of course thought this was flipping hilarious. So my pain helped elevate the social status of the grubby kid. Congrats Ted, where are you now?

So, there you go, my third grade class was filled with evil little pukes that gave me letters that told me how much they hated me for my birthday. I was punked at age 8. Fun. That was my worst gift ever. The gift of early childhood anxiety.

For my 16th. birthday, my sister got me a 25 dollar gift certificate to Usinger Sausage products. That's not even the worst of it. I had been vegetarian for over a year and a half and my niece thought it'd be funny if she told her I loved the stuff. My Dad used to buy us underwear at Sam's Club and put them in our stockings, which might have been semi acceptable, except they were about 20 sizes too big and we definitely granny-panties. Epic fail Dad.

Well my mother knows how much I'm into music. Not only does she know this, but she knows that I absolutely hate CCM (Christian Contemporary Music), but year after year, I receive c.d.'s from such artists like Ill Divo, Michael W. Smith, DC Talk; last year, I even got a copy of Josh Groban doing Christmas hymns...It'd be one thing to get Johnny Cash doing religious songs, but c'mon. I haven't ever opened one of these albums and they are stuffed somewhere at my parents house in a box in the basement.

What a great idea for a contest. I'm so glad that you're helping to bring back this group. As far as presents go, I've always been pretty lucky. I do remember being a bit disappointed at getting an errector set when I was a kid, but that's not too crazy. I just wasn't into building things. Probably the worst gift was a chia head that someone gave me at a white elephant party, but chia heads are still cool in a really tacky kind of way.

Even though I am clearly not eligible to win this contest, I'm going to start it off with my worst present ever...

Matching fuzzy-teddy-bear-applique-sweatshirts with 'googley' eyes for my dad and myself. It would have been cute had I been, oh, four? But I was ten or eleven as I recall, and inevitably my mom asked why I wasn't wearing it to school ever, so naturally I wore it one day to appease her, and that one day lived on in infamy amongst my peers for the remainder of my primary education. Thanks mom, as if I wasn't awkward and dorky enough at that age. Worst present ever.

I have been granted the power to give-away Bam Margera's sure-to-suck Christmas flick "Where the #$&% is Santa?". Without even watching the film (and I use the term "film" liberally) I am confident that this holiday flick is in the running for the title of Worst Christmas Film Ever. Pretty impressive after such notables as Christmas with the Kranks. That being said it, only seems fitting to have a "Worst Christmas Present Ever" contest.

Here's how it works:

Post your worst Christmas present ever
I will then go through the list and narrow it down to 5-10 truly awful selections depending on the number of entries
The finalists will be made into a poll, where we can then vote for the official Worst Christmas Present Ever.
The top two (or bottom two, depending how you look at it) entries will receive copies of Bam Margera Presents: Where the #$&% is Santa DVD.

So ladies and gentlemen, what was YOUR worst Christmas present ever?
