Directed by Pete Travis
Forest Whitaker, Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, and Matthew Fox star in director Pete Travis' Roshomon-style thriller in which an assassination attempt on the President of the United States is detailed from five unique perspectives. As the president arrives in Madrid, gunshots ring out. An American tourist (Whitacker) has captured footage of the would-be assassin on videotape, and now as the stories of the other four witnesses unfold each essential piece of the puzzle quickly falls into place. Only when all of the stories are told will the chilling truth to this shocking crime finally emerge. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

"Last weekend, I stumbled home from seeing Ballast at New York’s Film Forum, stunned at its contemplative regard for human-sized people working out their human-sized problems. Gorgeous. Some great films leave you a staggering drunk; Ballast is one of those greats that leave you hobbled but stone sober, lucid, hearing throu " [More]

"I've recently watched a string of bad movies. They're not bad as in they never should have been made. It's more disappointing than that. They're bad because a good idea and often talent was wasted on poor execution.I should have known better than to throw away my time on them. They were all released in the dumping ground casually referred to as the Spring Season. Few decent U.S. films debut during this time. It's home for stupid family fare featuring Martin Lawrence ([More]

"This movie was well shot and pieced together, with little twists and turns to keep me interested. It also was slightly predictable and lost me around half-way through. The gimmick of "point of view" worked to a certain degree, but then became quite a limiting factor to the story for me. I wanted to see scenes come to more completion, I wanted to see the story progress past the 30 minutes that the story captures. Its strength was in the camera work and editing, this mad " [More]

"If I didn´t know any better, "Vantage Point" could be a sibling of television series "24." Terrorism, presidential assassins, a conspiracy…the only thing this movie is missing is Jack Bauer. (To be fair, co-star Matthew Fox plays a Jack on TV´s "LOST.") Well, let me back up for a minute. "Vantage Point" is missing two things: Bauer and a script which makes us care for any of the charac " [More]

"Vantage Point was not as awful as everyone said. However, I've already forgotten most of it. The different perspectives were kind of neat, but, especially at the end, there were some Crash-esque moments. Wait for this to make the rounds on cable. Again, maybe I'm just not good with older and/or screwball comedies. [More]
