"Time travel is a tricky subject. Many films attempt it, but a lot of films also mess it up. It’s a very touchy topic to take on. Timecrimes takes swing, and hits a home run. It’s one of the best movies involving time travel that I have ever seen. Timecrimes follows Hector; a man sent traveling back in time after being chased in the wilderness by a strange man with a bandaged face. There really isn’t much more to be said about the plot without giving away the twists and turns that it follows. I watched the film with the overdubbing. I can’t say anything about the subtitles, but the overdubbing could have been better, but wasn’t bad. At no point did I ever get distracted by the English in the film. The acting itself is hard to say, again, because it wasn’t the actors themselves speaking. The direction and writing of the film is very excellent, both tasks by Nacho Vigalondo.

"this is a wonderful movie, which i don't understand and which i couldn't explain if i had to! its a great twisty story that will have you thinking and rethinking everything you know (when it comes out on DVD i'm going to see if i can figure it out by watching it again). i don't really fall into the mystery/horror/sci-fi demographic but i found it very entertaining. "Los Cronocrímenes (Timecrimes) If you are a fan of time travel movies, or any kind of time travel fiction, or are interested in the practical or philosophical ins and outs of time travel paradoxes at all, YOU SHOULD REALLY SEE Timecrimes! ...however DO NOT WATCH THE TRAILER. It gives too much away. Don't even read a synopsis. It's a Spanish movie that was playing around some of the theatres that tend to show more foreign or independent fare. I caught it at The Music Box Theatre in Chicago and am glad I did! This is probably now my new favorite time-travel film, even more so than Twelve Monkeys. I still think Twelve Monkeys is a better and more enjoyable movie overall, but as far as looking strictly at the time travel aspect, Timecrimes is the best movie in this category. Ok so the acting wasn't necessarily the greatest, although it wasn't bad. And some of the dialogue was a little bit cheesy or unnatural. The the script and execution of most of the plot was great. "Riding a wave of critical good will that began at Fantastic Fest ‘07 and continued through this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo’s zippy Timecrimes finally arrives commercially this weekend. Recalling both Philip K. Dick and David Cronenberg (who, along with Steve Zaillian, has been mentioned as a possible helmer for a planned English Language remake), this time bending thriller is the brain child of the ever prolific master of the low-fi, who spoke with us about wanting to adapt Steven King, his favorite genre traditions and getting Gasper Noe a time machine.

"Writer / director Nacho Vigalondo’s Timecrimes opens in various locations over the next few weeks, starting with Austin, Texas this weekend. If you’ve heard about this film, then you’ve probably been waiting on it at least since it played Sundance earlier this year (it premiered at Fantastic Fest in 2007). If you haven’t heard about it, then you need to. Nacho is one of those filmmakers who could make an amazing film with five million dollars, or with five bucks, because he’s all about the writing. Some of his short films feature only one camera setup, but they are incredibly funny because of the writing. One even features the same shot, over and over, and somehow it gets funnier each time. Below is our primer to the best of Nacho on YouTube, which you can watch and explore as Timecrimes gets closer. It won’t exactly prepare you for the movie, but it’ll give you some insight into his sense of humor. We explored a few of "

"The one face that has been prevalent all over Fantastic Fest for the past week, even more so than Alamo Drafthouse founder Tim League, has been Spanish director Nacho Vigalondo. His movie Timecrimes premiered to U.S. audiences here last year, and was snapped up by Magnolia; there’s now an Americanized version in the works. He’s been at pretty much every single screening, every event, and in every condition: tired, wired, drunk, sober, sleepy, awake. He doesn’t have a feature film at the festival this year, but he did come with about 90 minutes worth of his short films, and those played as a single screening full of Nacho’s wacky blend of British and Spanish humor. Check out the full interview with him below, where you can also watch several of his shorts. So, last time you were here in Austin, you were here with Timecrimes

"If distributors came to Fantastic Fest this year looking for the next Timecrimes, and badge holders descended hungry for a peek at the next There Will Be Blood, it’s interesting that one of the most talked about films on the schedule has ended up being not a world premiere, not a surprise preview of an Oscar contender, not an unknown international oddity, and not even, really, a genre film, but a documentary made by an American 25 year-old which has been on the festival circuit for nine months. And yet, the popularity of I Think We’re Alone Now (otherwise known as The Tiffany Stalker Movie) at Fantastic Fest makes a certain perfect sense, and not just because this audience is accustomed to stories of sexual obsession (usually fictional, usually much gorier). In putting a camera in the faces of two lonely, mentally unwell adults, who are both desperate for the attention but incapable of filtering their stories, director Sean Donnelly has made what could be classified as an exploitat ... "Twitch has linked to a Spanish-language interview with Nacho Vigalondos, in which the Timecrimes director says David Cronenberg is in the running to direct the English-language remake of his time travel film–-that is, since Mario Bava is not available. Vigalondos also says Timothy J. Sexton, one of the writers of Children of Men, is writing the English language adaptation, and that if he were to have his dream cast, it would involve Joan Allen, Adam Brody, and either Bruce Willis or Kurt Russell. After the jump, you’ll find Babelfish’s translation of the relevant portion of the interview. Linguistics are funny! See also Kevin’s review of Timecrimes and
