The mystery begins when five women in a small West Virginia town give birth to babies with four-inch tails. Arriving to investigate, Mulder and Scully find out that all five infants were fathered by the same man, local janitor Eddie Van Blundht (Darin Morgan), who appeared to be a different person to each of the unwary mothers.
