Italian director Giuseppe Gagliardi's mockumentary The True Legend of Tony Vilar (AKA La Vera leggenda di Tony Vilar) tells the story of apocryphal singer Tony Vilar, an Italian-born crooner who emigrated from Italy to Argentina during early childhood and shot straight to the top of the Latin American charts in the '60s with the massive hit single " Cuando calienta el sol." Vilar then inexplicably disappeared, leaving no information as to his whereabouts. In The True Legend of Tony Vilar, Italian singer Peppe sets out to solve this mystery by tracing Vilar to Manhattan.
