In a post-epidemic nightmare world, scientist Robert Morgan (Vincent Price) is the only man immune to the plague which has transformed the entire population of the Earth into vampire-like creatures. He becomes the monster slayer that vampire-society fears. Curing one of them, Ruth (Franca Bettoja), with a transfusion of his blood gives him hope for the future. It is a short future, however, since the other vampires quickly find and kill him. This dark tale, based on Richard Matheson's even darker novel "I Am Legend," was later remade as The Omega Man with Charlton Heston in the Vincent Price role. ~ Lucinda Ramsey, All Movie Guide

"For three years, "Robert Morgan" (Vincent Price) has been trying to survive against those infected with a plague which has turned them into vampire-like zombies. It appears that he is somehow immune to the strange affliction.During daylight, he goes out and kills those infected with hand-made stakes. Then, at night, he stays locked up in his house until the morning comes again as those infected try in vein to break into his " [More]

"One of the real pleasures being a cineaste is seeing an obscure or underrated film you don't expect much from and having it be really wonderful. This is such a film. It's the first film version of Richard Matheson's acclaimed novella I Am Legend, which I really should get around to reading. Another, more famous version of the book was made in 197. Called The Omega Man it was directed by Boris Sagal and starred Charlton Heston in the role that Vi " [More]

"I have not seen "I Am Legend" as of this review (which looks like it might actually be pretty entertaining), or "The Omega Man" (which looks absolutely terrible) OR "I Am Omega" (which looks the most terrible of them all), but I did see "The Last Man On Earth" and I can say that, although extremely slow (I kept falling asleep - it probably took me seven watches to finish the film), I think Vincent Price did an EXCELLENT job as Dr. Robert Morgan. But holy c " [More]

"[quote user="unclefestering"] Not to be picky, but I always thought that Battle Royale took place in an alternate history of Earth where the Japanese Empire controlled all of Asia at the end of World War II. I wouldn't put that in the same category as living in the aftermath of the world's end. And if you are going to put Omega Man and I Am Legend on the list, I'd say you need to put the original film version, [More]
