"The vampires of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight novels are described as impossibly beautiful. But it’s one vampire, “Edward Cullen,” who is written as having such appealing details that it would seem impossible for a girl not to fall in love with him. In actuality, that’s what has happened to most females, young and old, who have read the books. And while his cinematic portrayer, Robert Pattinson, doesn’t quite resemble a marble statue of Adonis, the actor is still getting his fair share of seven-year-old suitors asking to be bitten. Cullen is hardly the first vampire to so strongly attract the hearts (and necks) of mortals. But what is it about the bloodsucking undead that turns us on so much? Is it truly their stone-white skin and chiseled features? Or perhaps it’s their ability to go all night long? Let us take a look at the many vampire love interests that literature and cinema have given us over the years in an attempt to find out their sexy secret. 1819: Lord Ruthven from The Vam ... "

"Still impossibly gorgeous and chic at age 65, Catherine Deneuve is the ultimate living emblem of the lasting romance of French film. She’s also amongst the busiest international female stars over the age of fifty, and while Deneuve has made the occasional questionable move since hitting that marker of age (dueting with a post-post-post Sex Pistols Malcolm McLaren; playing “herself” in I Want to See, a dramatized document of her visit to war-torn Lebanon), Melissa Anderson is right to note that for the most part, over the last decade and a half, “she has shown a fearlessness in her roles—no matter how small.” That fearlessness is on display in A Christmas Tale, where Deneuve is at her best rocking a borderline incestuously playful love-hate with her wicked charmer of a son (and potential lifesaver) Matthieu Amalric. With that film hitting theaters tomorrow, here’s a look back at a few iconic Catherine Deneuve moments, all readily available via YouTube.

"Due to the unsurprising popularity of our “10 Movies Sold on a Sex Scene” list a few weeks back, I’ve decided to unleash a sequel. However, catering to both Spoutblog’s traffic and the interests of ever-abundant sex-attracted internetters is only half my reason for this follow-up list. I was mainly motivated by the outcome of the release of Woody Allen’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona, a film that also initially inspired the first list. While Vicky was partly sold on the promise of a threesome between Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, it is now fortunately being celebrated, and it will likely be remembered, primarily for Cruz’s performance. Not for the threesome or for the lesbian kiss. Other movies sold on a sex scene, though, are not typically so blessed with accolades. And even some that are recognized with high praise at time of release are often later forgotten as anything but fodder for MrSkin and other followers of onscreen sex and nudity. Obviously this means t ... "

"A vampire movie with lesbian overtones co-starring David Bowie? Sounds like three cherries on the jackpot! But Tony Scott, the auteur who gave us Top Gun manages to take this terrific raw material and turn into a really awful movie. However, The Hunger is the best kind of bad movie- so over the top and ridiculous that it's rarely boring, and when it is, you know there's going to be one more dumb thing to tide you over. The plot, characters and theme of the movie (if there is one) are all a distant second in importance to the style, which is like an early 80's music video. Imagine Flashdance as a vampire film and you might have some idea. Since Scott is trying to make this a mood film (albeit a really commercial one) as opposed to a narrative, the story takes second place, but here goes: Miriam (Catherine Deneuve) is a two thousand year old vampire who is living with her "new" lover, John (Bowie) who she vampirized in the 18th century. One day, John beg "

"No doubt, this is one of my all time favorite movies. As usual, Deneuve is stunning and even Sarandon, who typically I can't stand, is sexy. I've been watching this for over 20 years, and just purchased the DVD today again. I'm in the middle of it, at the point where Sara has taken the blood for Miriam. After the first few times I saw this, I read the book, and I have to tell you ... This is one time when the film interpretation is better than the original story. Hot stuff. "

"Maybe it's because I've seen this movie about a billion times, but I must confess that I do sometimes get bored during parts of this film, but I must always watch the beginning at least through Bauhaus' nightclub performance and check back in for Susan Sarandon's hot lesbian scene. It is a classic and worthy of full viewing many times, but I just happened to go see it as a midnight movie almost every weekend for several months because a favorite movie house was closing down, so I simply overdid it.
