In this children's adventure, the children of a small town are enthralled by the tales of the town drunk. The story centers around the odd-ball boozer's friendship with one little girl who disobeys her spinster aunt's edict and goes to listen to the stories. The drunk's life changes after he discovers a buried treasure. He must kill a man in self-defense after the stranger attacks him for the goods. The poor little girl must testify against her friend. They are involved in a chase in which the girl careens around in her aunties Rolls Royce. After the chase everyone settles down and justice is served.
