Directed by Jerry Rees
A fast-paced and funny twist on the Homeward Bound saga in which devoted pets traverse the wilderness in search of their owners, Brave Little Toaster is an animated family treat that tells the delightful story of a gang of household appliances who set off for the big city to find their young master after he thoughtlessly leaves them in his summer cabin. Along the way they must face many dangers and obstacles, including figuring out how to get juice in a wilderness containing no electrical outlets. The film is based on a children's tale by science-fiction author Thomas M. Disch and won a Parent's Choice Award. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

is neutral about it.
A delightful children's road movie reminiscent of The Incredible Journey, Disney's The Brave Little Toaster is an appropriately warm adventure tale. Using modern appliances as the protagonists, the story remains old-fashioned in its spirit even as it humorously depicts the clashes between nature and technology. The animation is simple and the story straightforward enough for the youngest of viewers, while adults can appreciate the unique characters and witty dialogue. Featuring the voices of Saturday Night Live veterans Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman, the inventive personalities of the appliances and the constant movie references keep the story moving at a fast pace. In true Disney fashion, virtues such as friendship, cooperation, and resourcefulness are stressed, and the characters also face the despair of becoming obsolete in the high-tech world. Though The Brave Little Toaster found difficulty finding a distributor for its theatrical release, it remains one of the more charming classic quest stories. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide
