"The Internet seems eerily quiet today, which is probably due to all the blog writers being miles above wifi signals, flying towards Austin for SXSW. Of course, there are some posts here and there discussing rumors about Jon Favreau directing The Avengers and continued commentary on Watchmen’s box office future and Joaquin Phoenix’s “brawl” in Miami, but there’s not much new news to get excited about. So, I’ve decided to highlight some recent SXSW-related posts from other blogs in anticipation of the festival. I won’t be there this year, and the Bloggery posts will be taking a week off in order to let SpoutBlog focus on film reviews, interviews and other SXSW goodies, so this is my one chance to be a part of the SXSW fun, albeit from a very cold, very jealous perspective up here in NYC. I wish everyone down in Austin a good time and, more importantly, a lot of good movies. Pop Candy "

"Even though some of last year’s Comic-Con secrets were leaked to the web ahead of time, the 2007 SDCC was a huge deal as far as revelations go. Whether it was the unveiling of Karen Allen’s involvement in Indiana Jones and the Then-Still-Not-Subtitled Fourth Installment or cast updates for Watchmen and Star Trek or a bit of clarification on what the hell that Cloverfield movie was, Comic-Con 2007 left us super excited and highly anticipatory for the next year of movie releases. But after a quick glance, the 2008 convention doesn’t seem like it will have as many big announcements. There should be plenty of new footage shown from movies like Watchmen (making its second Comic-Con round) and The Spirit (hopefully there’s some better looking stuff than the most recent trailer gave us "

"When Captain America is awakened from an icey prison, and some of the greatest evils earth has seen are born, the Avengers go into action. Captain America, Iron-Man, Hulk, Wasp, Ant-Man and Thor. Will they be able to stop the likes of Loki and the Masters of Evil? "

"Is Cameron Diaz playing Lt. Ilia in J.J. Abrams’ new Star Trek movie? Or trying out for the part of Moondragon in Marvel’s Avengers movie? No, she’s simply gone bald for New Line’s weepie drama My Sister’s Keeper. In the film, she plays the mother of a girl suffering from leukemia. And when her daughter suffers hair loss from chemotherapy, she shaves her own head in support. Though I’m not sure if Diaz is actually shaved here or just wearing a bald cap, I’m hoping that either way little Dakota Fanning sees these photos (for more, head here). You may recall that the 14-year-old primadonna dropped out of the film because she didn’t want to shave her head. Well, Dakota, how’s it feel to be shown up by Cameron Diaz? I know, she’s hardly one to seem worried about her image (she’s brilliantly unattractive in Being John Malkovich), but still, no

"There’s been a lot of talk lately about all the mutant cameos appearing in the X-Men spin-off X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but we haven’t heard much about any characters set to show up in the other spin-off, X-Men Origins: Magneto. Until now. According to George “El Guapo” Roush at The Latino Review, the Magneto film will feature either Beast or Nightcrawler. The uncertainty over which lies in the fact that, while on a visit to a creature effects shop, Roush saw a photo (or rendering) of a blue-costumed character who he was told is a young Beast (played by Kelsey Grammar in X-Men: The Last Stand). Yet the character is described by Roush as having a tail, which suggests that the effects person was mistaken and that it’s really a young Nightcrawler (played by Alan Cumming in
