Directed by Michael Rubbo.
Convinced that a recently burned-down structure harbors ghosts, young Matthew Mackay and Siluck Saysanasy decide to investigate the ruins. In true "urban legend" fashion, what Mackay sees inside the structure causes him to go bald on the spot! His distress is mollified when a pair of friendly ghosts whip up a "peanut butter solution" that will ostensibly restore his hair. So hirsute does Mackay become that he is kidnapped by a paint-brush manufacturer. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

"I'm surprised only one person mentioned Something Wicked This Way Comes - My dad was a big Ray Bradbury reader so we watched that one all the time. The scene when the little boy wakes up and his floor is covered with tarantulas got me every time. And I had totally forgotton about The Peanut Butter Solution - I don't remember much of it but I remember something about when he was being held captive and all those little bells atached to strings as an alarm. Also, I can't remember what the hell it was, but I saw some movie when I was little and at the end, it turns out that everyone was a robot or cyborg or something. I have no idea what movie it was, something from the mid 70s but I often convinced myself that I was the only real human on Earth and it freaked me the hell out.I wish I had more but I was pretty shelted as a youngin' and by the time I was old enough to start watching scarier stuff, it wasn't very scary to me, " [More]

"Yeah Willy Wonka, the part where they ride that boat through the tunnel and Wilder sings that freaky song and there's all kinds of disturbings images projected up on the wall. I remember when I was a kid, Judge Doom scared the crap out of me when he turned into a cartoon as well. Now Roger Rabbit is one of my all time favorite films. Tmoney, I just read your blog on The Peanut Butter Solution. That does sounds like one of the freakiest things around. I was totally frightened of black wolves in movies. So I would always run out of the room when the wolf parts would come on in Benji the Hunted or The Neverending Story. The most chilling part of Benji was when Benji tricks the wolf into running off of that cliff to his demise. The wolf howl haunted my nightmares. I think it was Superman III. There was some part with a giant computer that would grab people and turn them into evil androids. I caught that on TV once and couldn't get the terrifying image out of my head. I think I w ... "did anyone else watch this film as a child? Well I did and it was horrific. The story is of a boy who goes bald, and puts on a peanut butter solution to make his hair grow back. Oh yeah, and his best friend puts it onto his pubes. Then he is kidnapped to make paintbrushes out of his hair. And there is a magic painting involved. And it's a kids film. Did anybody else watch this? What was my mom thinking when she rented it for me? " [More]
