"Whites vs. Reds. Whites are winning, now Reds take the lead, watch it -- Whites making a strong push back, hey now those Reds aren't backing down anymore, whoops White power in effect, oh Reds have a machine gun (ho... ho... ho...). Anyone who says this is a great action flick is saying that because they want it to be a great action flick. It's an okay movie with a few really cool camera ideas. That's it. "

"The director does a great job of melding two very complimentary genres: the Spaghetti Western and low-budget Asian action cinema. Without a doubt, the two have drawn influences from each other while remaining entirely seperate entities, and SWD does a great job of bringing the two together--seamlessly. The East meets West doesn't seem a formula that would work at first glance, but audiences will no doubt be amazed at how natural it seems to have Asian mysticism and martial arts amidst gun play and horse chases in the wild, wild west. Be forewarned: the film does start out a bit slow and scattered, and requires a good ear to follow. I recommend turning on the English subtitles until your ear adapts to the unusual Western-Engrish accents. Stick with the film and I can almost guarantee the viewer will at least be entertained, if not downright engrossed in this clever mashup. Bonus: Quentin Tarantino makes many appearances through the film. "

"As promised earlier today, here are the first two member profiles as we highlight some of those who have made Spout the great place it is over the course of 2008 (and even before that). As promised, each one of these members will receive a copy of Yule-A-Go-Go on DVD for them to snuggle up to in ways we don’t need to hear about. –Chris Thilk, Director of Marketing Username: Risselada Real name: Brian Risselada but some people here call me Rizzo From: Jenison, MI. "Time to feature two more members of the Spout community, each of which will be receiving a copy of the two-disc edition of Yule-A-Go-Go, the perfect thing to give you that warm, fuzzy feeling this Christmas season. (Note: I’ll be doing this twice today since I spectacularly failed to do it yesterday.) –Chris Thilk, Director of Marketing Username: leeroy711 Real name: Emery From: Phoenix , AZ Last 5 movies I’ve loved: Missing (1982), Touch of Evil (1958), Sukiyaki Western Django (2007), Volver (2006) and The Princess and the Warrior (2000). My favorite group on Spout is: The Weekly Theme. The strangest place I’ve ever watched a movie has to be at the Glendale Drive-in. A friend and I used to know where the hole in the fence was. We would sneak in and find a family that was watching something we wanted "

"What if ultra-modern, samurai sword wielding Japanese cowboys had participated in the Gold Rush of the mid 19th century in the United States? Sukiyaki Western Django is an anachronistic mishmash that attempts to answer this question by infusing the spaghetti western with traditional Japanese cinema to create a sumptuous feast of the senses made all the more delicious by the random dashes of uncouth American sensibilities thanks in large part to Quentin Tarantino. A story of murder, revenge and redemption; the Japanese love child of A Fistful of Dollars and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "

"Earning $14.3 million in its third weekend, Tropic Thunder retained its top placement on the box office chart over the holiday, yet it’s total gross still hasn’t reached the movie’s reported $90 million budget. Meanwhile, five new wide releases (Babylon A.D., Traitor, Disaster Movie, College and Hamlet 2, which expanded this week) performed badly enough to place this year’s Labor Day total at 17% below last year’s. In the end, the slow four-day weekend may have contributed to Summer 2008’s inability to top the box office of Summer 2007, despite The Dark Knight’s now more than $500 mill. take. The most interesting box office news from the weekend is Mamma Mia!’s 34% increase over its previous weekend take — despite having lost more than 350 screens — due to Universal’s releasing a special sing-a-long version of the musical to 299 locations. I’d say something about the film being on its way to Rocky Horror-like cult hit status, but at $132.9 "
